Owner description: Maison La Belle Vie (French for "House of Beautiful Life") was planted 8 years ago. The first vintages from the estate winery, were introduced in 2006 and included Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Rosé and Muscat; a dessert wine that is traditional in the Loire Valley in France. Maison la Belle Vie has now added 3 Reserve wines, a Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot all aged for 4 years as well as the famous Vin de Peche; a Muscat, fortified with peaches - a recipe from John's family that has been handed down through the generations since the late 1800's. A new addition is a hand crafted walnut liquor that is simply delicious.

The wine tasting is similar to most other Palisade wineries. Everyone's taste is different but I did thoroughly enjoy the 2007 Port. I also purchased this wine. A bit disapointed that they offered Hershey's Kisses as the chocolate to pair with it. We happened upon our wine tasting while a wedding was occurring on the back patio. This was a very nice location for a wedding. Just outside the tasting room was a shaded picnic area decorated like a French bistro. I wish we had known of it before we ate lunch elsewhere. The tasting room offered cheese and crackers for purchase. They also offered some unique t-shirts for sale.

Maison la Belle Vie Winery is a favorite of ours when visiting Colorado Wine Country. It is located in a peaceful setting off the road with acres of grapes growing all around. Nice picnic area to stop and relax with some wine and cheese and take in the beauty of the area. It is quiet and clean and beautifully landscaped.

They feature red wines in the French style and offer a warm and friendly tasting room. The wines are well worth the visit. and combined with the ambiance it is a must visit.

They also have special event space and host weddings nearly everyweekend.

Super quaint, in a beautiful setting. Makes you feel like you should be in France! The cheese is served with warmed bread - great to enjoy why you are trying your wine. A $5 charge for 5 tastes and $10 for the cheese and bread. Very enjoyable atmosphere!

Once you've tasted the wines, stop for a picnic under the large shade trees. The Aussie server and one of the winemakers is a great chap!

If you are in the area and enjoy elegant wines, make sure you stop by Maison. These are serious, high quality wines with wonderful balance and structure. The winery's grounds are beautiful, as are its views, and the tasting room is cozy and tastefully set up. I also got a kick out of seeing the Citroen "parked" outside. Not to put down the other Palisade wineries, but Maison was a much more intimate, more winecentric (is that a word?) experience. Try their Reserve Wines, they are fantastic. I particularly enjoyed the Syrah. But what really made the visit remarkable was the great conversation I had with Corey while tasting Maison's wines. He is very affable and happy to share his wine making knowledege and experiences.
