I'm not sure where the previous poor reviews have come from. Yes, there is no fridge. Yes the rooms are smaller than some hotels in this price bracket.

However, our room was clean, the decor was in good condition, and we had no problem with noise. The indoor swimming pool was large, well lit and airy and our kids loved it.

There is no lift, however, there is a ramp halfway down the one wing that you can wheel your cases up if necessary.

All in all - good value and representative of what to expect in this proce bracket.

Less than acceptable. One of our keys didn't work. Pool area unkept with jets not working in hot tub. Staff busy with outside interests, not attentive. Terrible morning breakfast with rotten
tangerines and stale bread items.

My husband and I are staying here now and we are not impressed. The hotel itself is older, which isn't a bad thing but you can just tell when you walk in its a little run down. The beds are a little hard, but we are very sensitive when it comes to beds. The pool area is nice and we have been the only ones down there the past three nights. My real complaint is with the breakfast. I booked with HIE primarily because they offer great complimentary breakfast. Every morning since we have been here, the cinnamon rolls and biscuits have been ROCK hard. The Orange juice has been out. Thats my main complaint.

  • Liked — the pool area

To be fair we were camping in the area and had to find a hotel at the last minute due to severe lightning. The Holiday Inn Express had competitive pricing with other similar type hotels but we trusted Holiday Inn as a name brand. We were told that they only had smoking rooms left and we both thought "can't be that bad" and took the room. Well it was that bad, in fact it was the worst smoking room I have ever stayed in, and I have stayed in plenty. When we opened the door it smelled like a pack of bikers had just smoked 10 packs of cigs at once and walked out of the room. We had issues getting the window open to let fresh air but we managed. We checked in around 10:00 pm and by 6:00 the next morning I was begging my husband to get up so we could leave as I couldn't take the smell any longer. We stayed until breakfast was served and headed out.

The staff was really nice and the hotel seemed just fine otherwise. But beware when they mean smoking room they mean SMOKING room.

I guess I still can't believe any hotel in this day and age would allow smoking in their rooms but that's a whole other story.

  • Liked — Front Desk agent was really nice.
  • Disliked — Smoking room

We stayed for one night in the Holiday Inn Express in Pagosa Springs. The rate was reasonable, the hotel was clean, had a nice pool, good beds, and staff was helpful. We enjoyed the typical Holiday Inn breakfast.

The only things we were missing were microwave and fridge in the hotel.

Found the hotel on website in Santa Fe but after staying at that one, I wanted to see what this one looked like. And, it is a standard HIE. It is on the outside edge of town, but it was a very nice hotel. The rooms are pretty much standard that you see in most of the HIEs. Hotel staff very nice and accomodating in providing information on good places to eat. I wish we had stayed here a little longer than staying in Santa Fe. You won't go wrong picking this site while in that area.

  • Liked — It was at the edge of town and the traffic was really bad the day we were there - 4th of July
  • Disliked — Nothing to report I didn't like

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Pagosa Springs for the Labor Day holiday weekend. Most of the motels in town were booked up and some of the reviews of this motel weren't stellar, so I was a bit concerned about how it would be, but really it was fine. The hotel is nicely maintained and looked like it had been recently renovated (new carpeting and bedding). Our room on the second floor was very quiet, clean, and didn't have any peculiar odors. The staff was consistently helpful and trustworthy. The free breakfast buffet was the typical cereal and baked goods fare - nothing special, but nice not to have to go out to breakfast every day. The motel is a couple of miles from downtown Pagosa, but near a shopping area, golf course, and other activities. People who are expecting the Four Seasons will be disappointed, but this is a completely acceptable mid-priced chain hotel.

  • Liked — Nice staff and cleanliness.
  • Disliked — Location and lack of elevator.
