Elkwood Manor exemplifies the best in bed and breakfast accommodations. Since the hosts are also the owners, they care passionately about every aspect of the guest's experience. From the moment you arrive they make you feel like you are the most important guest they have ever had. And they do this for each guest whether the inn is full, or not. All the rooms are suites with a sitting area separate from the bedroom and bath. Each suite is beautifully appointed with fabulous fabrics and furniture, excellent lighting and plenty of outlets for recharging cell phones, computers etc. The internet connection is very good here. The entire inn is always spotless no matter what the hour. My husband and I almost did not stay in Pagosa Springs due to a lack of quality accomidations. We saw Elkwood Manor on the internet and decided to take a chance for 1 night. After our first evening there, we booked for 2 more nights! The best aspect of the inn is the breakfast where you are seated at a huge antique table with a picture postcard view of the San Juan Mountains. If the view wasn't enough, Darlene's individually cooked breakfasts are amazing! Generous portions of fruit, homemade sweet rolls, several juices, and hot entree with meat each morning provide a great start to a day of outdoor activities or a leisurely soak in the town's hot springs. At the end of the day, the hosts provide a wine tasting with snacks. It doesn't get any better than this! We have stayed at B&Bs for over 20 years and this one would be in the top 3 ever.

Just returned from a two night stay at Elkwood Manor one year on from our first stay and I've got to say, it's even better than the first time we stayed there!! Dan and Darlene are just superb hosts - friendly, helpful and lots of fun! We chose to spend Christmas at Elkwood this year and opted for the full "Christmas Dinner" which was just fantastic, as were all of the other meals Darlene prepared. The Wine hour is always a lot of fun and a great way to meet some of the other guests. So many great little touches really make this a really special place to stay. If you're looking for somewhere in Pagosa, don't bother to read reviews of any other place - Elkwood Manor is the it!!

All the previous reviews have said it - Elkwood is a first class B&B. The location is beautiful and all the rooms are spacious, very well decorated, and comfortable. Darlene and Dan are excellent hosts. We've stayed at other B&B's and Elkwood is first class all the way. We look forward to our next visit.

We like to travel and enjoy staying at B&Bs. This B&B is one of the best you will ever stay at!

We stayed in the Wilderness Suite, a loft area on the second floor. It includes a bedroom with a couch and sitting area, a tv and a wood stove. There's also a door off the bedroom to an outdoor porch with chairs. You'll also have an indoor loft that overlooks the dining room and another area in the loft that includes a couch and space to read in or just relax. It's more like a complete apartment than a room or suite in the traditional sense.

The private bathroom was elegant and decorated in stone. You'll even find personally monogrammed wash cloths waiting for you! What can I say - this is attention to detail beyond expectation! The accommodations are so comfortable, you won't want to leave!

The breakfast room is elegant! I've included pictures.

Darlene's meals are delicious ... they include fresh fruit, juice, coffee, pastries, and a wonderful main entree. She also serves complimentary appetizers and wine in the early evening. We enjoyed our wine out on the HUGE porch that wraps around most of the house and looks out into the mountains.

There's a hot tub and sauna in the yard, which unfortunately we didn't have a chance to visit.

The B&B sits a good distance away from the road, which is a small country road about 3 miles from the town. Parking is off-street, right in front of the house.

During our stay, Darlene packed us a picnic lunch. We drove to Williams Lake (a scenic drive from Pagosa Spring) to enjoy it. Darlene also made dinner reservations for us in town on short notice. She is an exceptional host - there to help if you ask but not intrusive.

We enjoyed EVERYTHING about staying here! This place is amazing, worth going out of the way for if you're traveling anywhere in the area.

Elkwood Manor is a wonderful vaulue for the price. Darlene & Dan provided a quality experience with a wonderful breakfast, beautifully appointed rooms, and great guides to the area. With wireless & direct TV you can keep in touch with the outside world (if you care.) This is our second trip to Pagosa Springs in a year and we look forward to many trips in the future.
