“Wonderful stay”
Reviewed October 2, 2011

We just spent 2 nights at the Fireside while hiking around the San Juans and enjoying the fall colors. Our cabin was very well appointed, clean with a great porch and chairs for enjoying the river. We hope to come back this winter!

Not sure i can say enough about this place. I got lucky and found it with a Google search. From the reservation process to the stay everything was flawless. Diane in the main office was great in helping get me the right cabin and help us with boarding our horses for the weekend.
I will be back at Fireside again (hopefully very soon). The location is right on the river.. the owners have 2 fire pits ready to go each night. There are chairs located all over the property (especially down by the river). We went out to Dinner a few nights in town and were not really impressed and actually sorry we did not just stay on this beautiful property and BBQ on site (Webers at each unit and a community BBQ down near the river).
The cabins are very clean, comfortable and very reasonable. Very close to town.

I highly recommend saying here whenever you are in town!

Room Tip: If you plan to cook in the kitchens on site, upgrade your room to one with the full kitchen as it wi...

I spent 5 days there on a business trip. location was wonderful......right on the beautiful San Juan River. Cabins were neat and well maintained. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful with suggestions on dining and attractions. Rates were a bargain compared to the service and atmosphere. Accomodations were available not only for businessmen, but for hunters, skiers, and even horsemen, as there were stables available for temporary boarding........pets, too.

Room Tip: rooms on the river are really pleasant

Stayed one night while passing through to Durango. Personal touch in the cabin made it not only comfortable but memorable. A stones throw to the river. Great for sitting on a rock to cool off with feet in the water. Would give it a 5 star but my wife said bed was not comfy and didn't sleep well. Not well known but the horse stalls/stable is free for guests. I didn't know that there is a famous horse training facility nearby which is why you see a lot of horse trailers on the road. Kitchen, interior, surroundings, privacy of each cabin, cleanliness was outstanding. Loved the sitting area porch outside of each cabin. Again, they did a good job of thinking about privacy with landscaping. Negatives...the kitchen food prep area was very small, and location was right off a somewhat busy 2 lane road although not noticeable at night.

Room Tip: Other restaurants are at the other end of Pagosa Springs which is also where a grocery store is. abo...

Our family had the best experience at the Fireside Cabins. The management was great and the cabins were clean. The kitchen had everything you could ask for and the bedrooms were spotless and clean. The scenery was great. It was nice waking up every morning and going down to sit by the river or take a walk to where the horses are kept. Town is just a few minutes down the road.

I have talked non-stop about the Fireside Cabins and Pagosa Springs. I will be back.

Room Tip: All rooms were nice. My Aunt had a cabin that sat on the river and that was beautiful as well.

We have been here a couple times. Once we stayed in the studio and the other time we stayed in the 1 bedroom on the river. We loved it! It was me and my husband and our dogs. It was great because our dogs could run around by/in the river. They even got a little dog treat when we checked in! I think it is a good place for relaxing. We really enjoyed the hot tub, the fire pits, and the bbq grill by the cabin. We also loved that they had a kitchenette, so we could make our own food the whole time we were there. We'd love to go here every year for a nice relaxing vacation. Also, the owners were very friendly.

Some people mentioned noise from the freeway. In general, the noise wasn't bad. The first time we stayed in the studio, which is closer to the freeway. We could hear cars occasionally, though there isn't much traffic. The loudest thing was the hunters getting ready in the morning. That happened on our first trip, but not our second trip, which I guess was off-season. Our second trip was on the river. That was so cool - you could see the river from your cabin!

Things you should know: they have quiet hours that start kind of early and the hot tub is for over 18 only. I assume that is because it is very deep. It is not like hotel hot tubs with higher benches, it is like a fancy home hot tub that you buy from the store. We really enjoyed the hot tub! Both times we went we were the only ones using it. We don't have kids yet, but I think it would probably be annoying to tell your 16 year old that they aren't old enough for the hot tub, so that will probably be a concern for the future.

Beautiful location with great cabins. You can't beat the price, especially if you have more people. The cabin had everything you needed. The porches were great for relaxing after a long afternoon of outdoor activities. The cabins and whole site are very well maintained. They even have picnic tables and lawn seating down by the river to have lunch and dinner. I would definitely stay here again. Next time I would request a cabin viewing the river, but ours was still great. Their jacuzzi was great after a day of hiking and river kayaking.

We went in July and the weather never got higher than the 80s. I would recommend coming a month or so earlier for higher river levels, but they were still good enough for tubing and river kayaking. The cabins are only a couple minute drive from town. I am looking forward to visiting in the winter!

We drove all through town and saw the other cabins and nothing compares to Fireside Inn Cabins.
