“Terrible excuse for a five star (???) hotel”
Reviewed August 14, 2009

We exchanged a time share we owned with a friend who has wyndham points. This is the second time we have stayed in a fairfield/wyndham timeshare and neither have been up to the standards we enjoy with our diamond resort timeshare. We had booked a one bedroom suite and ended up in a 400 square foot room without a view which is very badly in need of updating. The screens were broken on both the sliding glass door and the front screen door. The carpeting is very old and in need of replacing. I asked to speak to the manager about moving us and was told the resort is booked and they could do nothing. In defense of the resort, they do have a variety of units, some more modern and some very old. You might get lucky or you might get a unit like ours. In other comments, they have a very poor activities program and they do not have their own pool - you get a punch card to use a pool shared by many others - both other resorts and pagosa residents. Overall the area is nice and lots to do in durango - if you are looking for a family vacation with kids I think you would not be happy with this resort

This was our second trip to Wyndham Pagosa, our first was last summer. This year, we stayed in the Village Point condos, overlooking a small lake, on the second floor. We were not keen on the idea of a second floor condo, due to my my husband's artificial hip and knee. We will know in the future to request a ground floor condo. The condo was roomy, except for the kitchen, which had no counter space to speak of, and did not have the slow cooker that the Peregrine unit had last year. The bed was a queen size and fairly comfortable. The bathroom was large and well lit, but we had some issues with water pressure in the shower towards the end of the week. It was fairly quiet, which suits us, and close to shopping and restaurants. Be sure to go to Pagosa Pottery at the beginning of your week to glaze pottery. Allison and Ben are so friendly!
We are outdoor people, so I did some horseback riding at Diamond Hitch stables. I like it better than Astraddle a Saddle, that I did last year. They are (finally) repaving some of the roads; Park was torn up while we were there, but it will be nice when they get it done. Be prepared for potholes in other roads. I ran through the resort and my husband rode his bike up Pagosa Springs Blvd. We took a day trip to Santa Fe, NM, about a 3 hour drive. All in all, we will probably go there again, since we are low-key, outdoor types.
The only bad part was that they do try to sell to you. When we registered, we told them in no uncertain terms that we will not sit through a presentation. They insisted on sending a young man to our condo to complete and opinion survey. Don't go to any kind of presentation that they want you to do, unless you're really into getting a pitch for Wyndham/Fairfield.

We have found that this is a very nice place to stay. The condos are clean and comfortable with a great staff to serve you. The activities center provides all the information you need to enjoy the surrounding area. Many short trips, as well as longer ones, provide much and varied sight seeing and photographic opportunities.

If you plan to visit the world class mineral hot springs, a "Don't Miss", you can get your tickets at the activity center and save a few bucks. The springs are one of the main attractions of the area.

If your trip is in the fall you should see a great display of fall colors, be sure and take your camera!!

A "Not So Great" thing about this place are the roads within the resort...... Watch for the "Potholes" !

IT was a very organized resort with the best places to stay. Ours had a hot tub in the bottom story that had a patio looking out to the lake. Very awesome.

We had a great time for our Christmas 2007. We spent a week and traveled to wolfcreek to ski 3 days. Other days we spent in the town. We enjoyed sledding on hill right in town. The natural sulphur springs was the best a nite. It was snowing on us while we were sitting in the hottubs outside. My boys really enjoyed this. We had no trouble at all saying no to the timeshare presentation. They only asked us to attend once when we were checking in.

My husband and I were only able to stay in Pagosa Springs for a long weekend, but we spent it at the Wyndham and were so glad that we did. We stayed in a Peregrine 1 bedroom unit and it was plenty of room for us. King size bed, full kitchen, nice big shower, comfy couch. The scenery is beautiful with mountains in the background, ponds around the facility and also a golf course through the property. We had a very easy check-in and out, didn't have time to use the rec center but saw a lot of people using it. There are playground for the kids, mini golf, coupons for the hot springs, etc. Lots to do, a really beautiful property. Would definitely stay again and hope to someday.

My family of 3 just returned from a week at Wyndham Pagosa Springs, CO and we could not have been more satisfied! Check-in and check-out was quick and flawless, no surprises. Mini-golf, classes and wine/cheese reception are all part of the package. The area is a bit remote, but if you like beauty, this place will not disappoint. The Peregrine units have been updates and even the smaller B units can sleep up to 4 comfortably. We stayed in an A unit which was plenty of room for the 3 of us, including a 15-year-old boy. Units are part of a 4-plex, and all have key card access to a hot tub at the back of the unit. Our unit faced the golf course--perfect!

There is much to do in the area--hiking, rafting, horseback riding, shopping, and sight-seeing. We drove 1 hour to fish (also fishing available on the property), 2 hours to view beautiful Ouray, CO. Durango is an hour by car. Wolf Creek Ski Area is 20 miles to the east. Also, there are a several Indian ruins nearby that are worth exploring. Many restaurants offer coupons for lunch and dinner-buy one, get one 1/2 price. The rec center is wonderful-pool and all the usual fitness equipment.

Our only complaint is the road quality on the resort. This is a county issue, not Wyndham, but you have to be very carefull not to ruin a tire getting around the complex.

This place is a gem!
