“Good for a burger and ice cream”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2012

We had a quick burger, fries and ice cream here. The food was very good and the prices were reasonable. We also had breakfast here and it was just ok. Sit down service for breakfast and order at the counter for lunch, dinner and snacks.

“OMG”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2012

The best sundae I have ever had. I couldn't believe the size for the money and the cones are 8" tall for medium. The patio overlooks the San Juan River and the corn dogs and etc are superb. Make a stop here a tradition--many people do. I know a couple who have celebrated their anniversary with a stop here for 35 of their 50+ years of marriage. Worth it.

“Get the large ice cream cone!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2012

For $1.89 you will get the tallest soft serve cone on ethe planet!! This thing is so huge it's a sonder it stays together (but you can ask for a cup in case it starts tumbling!) This is a popular local attraction and the burgers are good, but everything is overshadowed by what they do with the ice cream! Cones or banansplits... the finished product is amazing and delicious. Sometimes there are lines out the door in the summer, but it's worth the wait!!

“Go for the Malts”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2012

While vacationing in Pagosa Springs with my family, we happened upon The Malt Shoppe. It is the typical "greasy spoon", "hamburger / malt dive" - and we did not expect a five star dining experience. There was always a line primarily because of the malts. The malts were so good that we treated ourselves almost every night and tried several of the flavors. The burgers were okay, the fries delish, and the malts - amazing! I understand what other reviewers are writing about cleanliness, however, for me, we knew it was the older version of a "dive" and enjoyed the experience. It's hard to find an old time malt shoppe and these malts did not disappoint. The malts alone would get 5-stars.

“Soft Cones Brought Us Back”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2012

We stopped in on a whim after the rodeo. We saw folks walking out with HUGE soft serve ice cream cones. We each ordered a small cone. It was almost too big for me to eat. It tasted great. Excellent value. We returned a few more times. I ordered different flavored milk shakes. All were excellent. The grilled food smelled great and looked tasty, we just never felt like a full meal when we stopped in. Counter staff was effecient and friendly. Nice deck and very kid friendly.
