“Property and Hostess Are Charming”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2011

This B&B is delightful. It's locaed high on a ridge surrounded by pine trees, overlooking the valley and a canyon (hence the name). Accomodations are comfortable, spacious and uncluttered. The house itself is a beautidul stone and wood gem. Valeries, the hostess is gracious and warm.

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely - we peeked.

My husband and I spent two nights at the Canyon Crest Lodge. The room we had was spacious and beautifully decorated, and was sparklingly clean. Our room had a king-sized bed, a large sofa, TV and dresser. The room had a sliding door to a deck. There were three rooms that ran along the back of the lodge, all sharing a deck that ran the length of the house. Because of the size of the rooms, there was plenty of privacy between each room's deck area. There was a small bistro table and 2 chairs for each room. The deck overlooked a fabulous view of a valley and mountains - gorgeous! Breakfast was delicious both mornings. Our hostess, Valerie, was super friendly. She also mentioned she is adding two new rooms in a separate building that will accommodate travelers with pets. We didn't have our dog with us, but it's good to know for the future. The B&B was a little bit outside of town in a quiet location, but probably not more than 10 minutes to the hot springs by car. There are several good restaurants on the end of town closer to the B&B. We plan on returning to Pagosa Springs to spend more time and will definitely plan on staying at Canyon Crest Lodge.

Immediately upon arriving at this gorgeous B&B, we felt welcomed, relaxed and appreciated. From the amazing gardens to the beautifully decorated interior, we knew we'd have a hard time leaving! Valerie is a wonderful hostess and the recently renovated home is breathtaking. Heated floors, as well as personal temperature controls for AC in each guest room, were added treats. We stayed in the Edinburgh Castle room and its king size bed was so comfortable, we were well-rested. Each guest room opens onto a second floor balcony featuring breathtaking views. We weren't here for a wedding, but we can definitely see why so many brides want to get married here! We will return soon to enjoy this relaxing getaway and hospitality again!

The mountain setting is magnificient, the gardens are lovely and well tended, the rooms luxurious and the British owner gracious and accomodating, even serving us high tea. The location is convienient, far enough off the beaten path to be quiet and peaceful, yet close to the Pagosa Hot Springs and Chimney Rock as well as to Durango with its world famous narrow guage railroad. I have recommended Canyon Crest to friends who also found their visit relaxing and delightful...and I plan another stay there in the near future.

Valerie and Ron were great hosts, making us comfortable from the moment we walked in the front door. Large great room with stone fireplace & blazing fire was a great way to end the evening playing cards with the kids. Breakfasts every morning were delicious and three nights Valerie also prepared fantastic family dinners for us--perfect for the evenings when we didn't want to go back out to town after a long day of skiing/outdoors activities--great food at a great value. Beautiful setting in the woods at the end of a private drive at the edge of the canyon--on nature's doorstep.
