Great early 20th century hotel. We stayed here 2 nights for our anniversary and really liked the St Elmo. I believe there are either new owners, or the previous owners (see some of the bad reviews after the old owners left) have taken back control. There was a 'for sale' sign in a front window during our stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Alpenglo (#3) which is on the street face of the hotel - it was beautiful 'suite style' with in-room bath. Ouray is a quiet town anyway, so no problem. The adjacent outdoor beer garden is currently not in business, awaiting a new owner, but could be a problem for noise if reopened.

Our stay was to celebrate a birthday and we were not disappointed! The antique decor and charming rooms were everything that was promised. The afternoon wine hour was a nice way to relax before dining in the fabulous Italian restaurant on the lower level of the hotel. A very nice place to stay and celebrate a special occasion or just to get away to beautiful Ouray. The only disappointing aspect was that breakfast was not served until 8:30 and our plans had us up and gone long before then. However, for an extended leisurely stay, I'm sure it would be very nice. Overall, it was a very nice experience.

Stayed two nights in a room next to the river that runs through town. Lovely decorations in all the rooms and very clean. Came with my in-laws, husband and 5 mth old daughter. The lady that was making breakfast played with my daughter while we all ate so I could enjoy myself. Everyone there was nice and welcoming. Will stay again inthe future.

Our room smelled like sewer and the inn keepers ( the owners) were know where to be found. There was no answer when we called to change rooms. In fact we saw them when we checked in to pay then did not see them for two days. When they checked us in they were very short with us and did not have much to say. I won't be back. The china clipper is beautiful and the owners are really nice.

We have been comin here for years and it's always the same! That's what's great about being historic - really feels like being back in time in this small old town. Upgrades and accommodations are great though. Very clean building. Staff is very friendly. And hot tub out back has a great view. Awesome place to stay - we'll be back!
