They have the best location in Ouray. Located on Main Street downtown the guys can plan that jeep trip while the gals shop. The rooms are great as are the owners. Thanks for a great stay.

We stayed at the inn for one night in August. We chose this location based on other reviews and were glad we did! The views of the mountains were gorgeous and we enjoyed sitting out on the balcony watching the sun set. You could walk to almost everywhere from this location. We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the room, and it was updated and very comfortable for four. The owners were very pleasant also. The price was not out of align either! We would definately stay there again.

Stayed one night in July 2004. Hotel was excellent. Staff was very friendly and helpful. View of the mountains from the hotel was striking. Room was big and comfortable. Even had music piped into the room if you wanted it. Weather was cool and rainly, but hot tub was very nice. Hotel provided lots of good Ouray information in the room, including a tip about an excellent breakfast available at outdoor cafe at local gold mine tour. Hotel was well worth it in every respect.

Just returned from a 2 week trip to southeast Colorado and Utah. Stayed at several hotels along the way. The Ouray Inn was a nice place to stay. The location can't be beat -- right in the heart of town. Easy walk to restraunts and shops. Rooms were spacious and clean. Hot tub very welcomed by our group. Beautiful view! We enjoyed sitting out in the provided chairs visiting and listening to the cafe music (across the street). Owners quite helpful in recommending activities, dining, etc.

Ironically since it is a hot springs town -- the showers lacked some in hot temperature quality -- but was adequate. Would recommend that you keep your confirmation number and call back to confirm your reservations. A reveiw I read prior to our trip indicated some difficulties with reservations. We had a similiar experience -- which thankfully was worked out to everyone's satisfaction.

Enoyed this stay and would stay at the Ouray Chalet Inn again!

We have stayed here mutiple times at the Ouray Chalet Inn and they are just as great as the first time we stayed there. The room we stayed in was completely updated with new carpet, wallpaper, refrigerator (YES!!), hairdryer. We love the fact that they give you lots of towels! We stayed at a Hyatt and had to ask everyday for extra towels and coffee. We will continue to stay at the Ouray Chalet Inn every time we are there as you can't find nicer rooms or people like Steve & Lora.

To respond to the negative comments from the unhappy person that booked on Expedia. I booked through Expedia and they are NOTORIOUS for giving confirmations and not booking with the hotels. They did the same thing to us with an Extended Stay America Hotel on SuperBowl weekend in Las Vegas and Extended Stay didn't try to help us find another hotel or give us the time of day. So chill out and try the Ouray Chalet Inn. They are great!!!!!

From walking into the office to check in, to reentering to check out, our stay could not have been better. Upon entering, we were met with a ray of sunshine, namely, Lora (one of the owners). She was a breath of fresh air that helped take the jetlag away! She even took the time to help us with directions to the various places we wanted to see while in town (not just handing us a map, but literally taking the time to walk us through where we needed to go and how to get there). The room was perfect (very nice, clean and comfortable). And, the view out the front window was breathtaking (not living where there are mountains, my wife and I were just awe-struck at the beauty of them – and we could enjoy seeing them while lounging in bed)! The way the hotel is positioned, every room seems to have an unbelievable view of the surrounding mountains and historic buildings that make up the main street.

But, beyond the normal hotel stuff, Lora and Steve (the owners – can you believe it? The owners actually run the hotel, that should tell you how much they care about their customers) seemed to go the extra mile without a thought about it. When we asked if they had decaf coffee for the in-room coffee maker, they personally delivered it to our room. When my wife went crazy with towels, they personally delivered more to us. When we were looking for something to do on Saturday night, they informed us of a Mardi Gras party the local Masons Lodge was having and invited us along (boy was that a hoot)!

So, my advice? If you are looking for a hotel that comprehends “customer service” and truly cares about their customers, then the Ouray Chalet Inn is the only place you should think of going! My wife and I returned from our trip relaxed and rejuvenated and we immediately starting planning our next weekend getaway to Ouray! And, you can be assured, we will be staying at the Ouray Chalet Inn (Lora, you might want to go ahead and get an extra stack of towels ready for my wife)!

Well, we drove up to Ouray for Valentine's Day, excited and eager to
stay at the Ouray Chalet Inn for our 1 year anniversay. We had
reservations made online thru Expedia 12 days in advance and
Expedia confirmed with the hotel and gave us a confirmation number,
etc. Check-in time was 2:00 pm, so we drove in about 2:10 pm. The hotel
owners were both surprised to see us walk in, looked at their computer,
and said, "we don't have a reservation for you". We got out the
paperwork with the confirmation numbers, and they proceeded to say that
Expedia had made an error on the date that showed 12-14 as the date,
not 2-14...!! Well, they tried to shift the blame to Expedia, but we
knew better from our paperwork. They never once apologized, but started
making calls to all of the hotels in town to find a room. Needless to
say, there were no comparable rooms available in town on Valentine's
Day in this (supposedly) romantic getaway. They finally relayed the
following information as available...one room in a hotel that has 6
rooms BUT they all share the same bath...and then another room with NO
heat and finally, a room across the street for twice what we were
expecting to pay, $175.00 per night for a "junior suite" in a hotel
that was over 100 years old. (We looked at the room, and I guarantee
that it was NOT worth $175.00 per night). Well, they did not once
apologize or offer to compensate or accomodate us. Even offering a 1/2
off discount for a future night would have prevented me from writing
this letter! I would NOT recommend this hotel if you are expecting to
drive in from anywhere and expect a room to be waiting for you. All
turned out for the BEST, because we drove back to Montrose Colorado and
stayed at the Holiday Inn. We payed $20.00 per night less, had
wonderful clean rooms, free breakfast each morning, sat in the jacuzzi,
and most importantly, had the best customer service imaginable. It was
a romantic and wonderful "getaway" afterall!!
