Owner description: It's always a good day for a soak in the clear warm waters of the Ouray Hot Springs Pool! The hot springs of Ouray have been enjoyed since at least the 14th century when native Ute Indians used the naturally hot clear water for healing. Settlers came to the area in the late 1800's in search of gold and precious minerals, and many found comfort in the natural hot springs. The current swimming pool was constructed in the 1920's and has been a favorite destination ever since. Seven different springs supply the pool with water. At the source some of this water is 150 degrees! The pool consists of several sections maintained at different temperatures for different tastes. The hot section is approximately 104 degrees, and a soaking section, perfect for families and prolonged soaking, is typically 95 degrees, or so. The lap lanes and deep section are usually about 80 degrees in the summer and fall, and cooler than that in the winter months when there is snow on the ground. The Ouray Hot Springs Swimming Pool is an outdoor pool open all year. Many people enjoy the pool the most in the winter, after a day spent ice climbing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, skating on the local ice rink (skates are available to rent at the Hot Springs Pool), or simply as a place to relax and enjoy the splendid scenery of the San Juan Mountains.

This is a great hot springs facility. The different temperature pools are great and large enough that even during tourist season I didn't feel crowded. The view from the pools is beautiful. It felt wonderful to go there after hiking.

I had been to Ouray before but my boyfriend had not so this was a must stop. Where else can you go swim outdoors year round? The water was so nice and warm and it was very relaxing. Dared the BF to go swim a lap which is in a very cold area and he about froze but the rest of the water was perfect. It was a high price to pay for not staying that long. Next time I would probably come in the morning and then again in the evening since you can come back all day with proof of purchase but it was nice to share this experience with the BF.

We were Disappointed in the overall appeal of the Springs. I felt like I was sitting in a lukewarm swimming pool with a bunch of strangers who, because of seating, have no choice but to stare at each other. The upside, the mountains and town were beautiful from where we sat. The staff here was very friendly. The showers and Bathrooms were clean. The $2 charge per towel seemed steep. In the end, I don't think we will return.

I've been coming to this pool for years, and its still just as wonderful as when I was a child. There are cool water lanes, cool water deep and shallow areas, warm water shallow area, and a hot pool. The hot is a spring fed 105 degrees!

What a lovely way to enjoy the natural hot springs!
The pools were clean, pleasant, and surrounded by a breath-taking mountain view. Not a view from the top of a mountain, mind you, but a view OF the mountain, from the foot of it.
It was quite a refreshing time. Relaxing.
The pools were plenty large to accommodate the visitors - even after a school bus unloaded a bunch of young kids.
The shower room was quite pleasant and also clean. We were thankful for the lighting, plugins, and the other things that accommodated our transition from pool to street.
