The PI has a large menu selection for a bar and they do have daily specials. When I go I order off the Mexican menu. The selection is large enough to find your favorite dish. The food is good and the price is right. There is live entertainment at night and happy hour drinks during the week days. They seem to have two different clientele. During the day you'll find tourists visiting the town and stopping for lunch or dinner. In the evening the locals show up. Be forewarned, some of the locals can be a little "rough around the edges". Years ago fist fights would break out in the bar and spill into the street. Luckily today the place has calmed down.

I consistently order two things here: hamburgers and enchiladas. The hamburgers are really excellent and cooked to order. The enchiladas are covered in their homemade, smoky enchilada sauce and very yummy. My friends really like the food here, too. And the place has been a Ned fixture for years. Lots of history, lots of interesting local tales.

The Pioneer has been around Nederland a l o n g time, but it's had a fairly recent facelift. It not only looks better, but the food is better too. There are a few draft beers, local historic pictures, local drinkers to go with Mexican and middle of the road American food. The portions are big, and the prices are fair. If you want fresh herbs and whole wheat bread, don't come here. If you want an open mike night, local flavor (in the customers), and a hearty meal, come on in. The service is very friendly and it's got plenty of old mining town charm.

The food was good and a nice selection, but I didn't find anything over-healthy. What I had was excellent - chicken fingers. They have a great open mic for musicians on Tuesday nights that is a somewhat famous hang-out. The waitress (Sheila) was very friendly and informative about the town. Beautiful, quaint town with a few restaurants and shops.

We've eaten here several times and it has become our favorite place to eat in Nederland. Everything is homemade with fresh ingredients. The menu has many great choices from Mexican, burgers, salads, a variety of sandwiches, etc. My favorite is the catfish dinner...best I've ever had. Prices are very reasonable which provides great value.
