“It's the wings!”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

The smoked Buffalo wings (an app) are excellent, and could win prizes. The rest of the menu is good, even if some of the food tastes reheated. The beers are sound examples of American microbrews. Nederland has a lot of restaurants that are no better than average; Wild Mountain is the best joint in town.

“Good beer”
Reviewed March 29, 2014

Good beer and fun place! Food could use some more care. If they are going to advertise 6+ bbq sauces, they should also have bottles for sale. Asked to buy some sauce to go and was given tiny plastic takeout cups. Wings were good.

“Yum - Chicken Wings!!”
Reviewed February 11, 2014 via mobile

There are only a handful of dining experiences/menu items that I can vividly remember, and one of those is the chicken wings at Wild Mountain Smokehouse. They are THAT good! I only give four stars because after raving about how good the chicken wings were, me and the family (of 7) went back, and wouldn't you know, EVERYONE ordered chicken wings. The restaurant was busy, and needless to say, it's incredibly difficult to put out seven orders of chicken wings at the same time. They made it happen, but the wings werent nearly as good as the first time.

“Our Favorite Ned Restaurant”
Reviewed January 22, 2014

We bought our first home in Nederland in 1999. For several years, we were not impressed with the restaurant choices. About five years ago, a new brew pub was built and opened in town, with a back deck looking down over Boulder Creek, and up at the Continental Divide. It has been a great local eatery and watering hole ever since. We eat there two or three times a month when we are here.

They smoke their own pork, chicken, beef brisket, prime rib and wings, and it is quite good. We are from Atlanta, and have been eating and cooking BBQ for decades. We have also sampled the distinct flavors/recipes in SC, NC, KC, and Texas. So, we have lot's of experience, and Wild Mountain does a good job. I'm not quite as impressed with their sauces as i am with their meats and beer.

I particularly enjoy the smoked prime rib sandwich on a hoagie roll. My wife likes the Ned Mess, a bowl with BBQ chicken, cole slaw and sweet potato fries all lumped together. They also offer sandwiches and main courses that include Salads, Salmon and Grilled Chicken, for those who are not feeling the BBQ love.

My wife and I are more wine than beer drinkers, but we both love the Mountain Mama's Cherry Wheat Beer. If you buy their Wild Mountain glass, you get $1 off for every refill on your next trips.

Our granddaughters love to go to 'the pig place' after a ride on the Carousel of Happiness right down the street. We just have to ignore the fact that the owners don't seem to recognize us, even though we have eaten there dozens of times, and have spoken to them more than once.

“Great food and service”
Reviewed January 15, 2014

We ate here after a hard 1/2 day skiing. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was very good. It was inexpensive. I'd go back for sure.
