We stayed here to attend the wedding of a friend and enjoyed our time at the resort. The numerous pools and leisure options gave us ample ways to spend free time. However, to come on our own in the future is not likely.
The drive to Mt. Princeton from Denver is scenic, but very long. And don't speed on the way there--the cops are thick! :-)
Others here have mentioned the Cliffside rooms; we concur--they were probably not worth the additional charge, as these hotel rooms placed us significantly farther away from any of the resort's leisure options (we had to drive to everything we did at the resort). Though the views of the resort/valley below were nice, they did not justify the additional cost. Choose the hillside room option and save the extra costs, as well as gas in your car!
The housekeeping crew seemed disorganized as to whether our room needed servicing on their "lists"; we simplified things for them by asking for just towels and garbage service. That was not a problem.
The restaurant was also problematic for us (as others have reported). Getting a chicken breast "to go" order took 45 minutes. Maybe this is nitpicky, but ordering an entrée from the kids' menu should offer a vegetable option other than butter-fried onions, peppers, and zucchini. I don't know many *adults* who would eat that mix as a side dish, let alone kids. Many others in our party regularly experienced extremely long wait times (45+ mins.) in the restaurant as well. Most nights, we preferred to drive to town and support the local restaurants and then have leftovers the next day.
The pools were awesome! The hot pools are really hot! The waterslide was a blast and there are tennis and basketball courts on site for you as well.
Bottom line, if there is a compelling reason for you to come to Mt. Princeton (i.e. the hot pools), then you may want to check it out. Like I said, we enjoyed our time there. But determine if the value proposition is in your favor before you decide to come on your own.

Room Tip: Choose hillside hotel rooms over Cliffside, unless you are willing to pay more and be farther away f...

Good prices and relaxing hot springs are why I have been here three times in the past year. Service however in the restaurant can be sub-par. The bartender working during our most recent stay was the most rude and stressed out I have ever seen, she lacked even the most superficial manors and failed to make drinks as ordered. This place has potential but they need some help polishing the customer experience.

Room Tip: cliffside rooms have patio but are furthest walk from hot springs, hillside is closer but no patio...

Very pricey for quality of room. The air conditioner didn't work upon arrival. Maintenance guy came & cleaned it out and then it it worked. Seems like that should be a routine service they would perform. Room had an old, musty, dank smell. Could not take a shower the last morning - no hot water or pressure. When checking out, I mentioned the shower problem and the desk clerk ignored the comment. I asked for a small $18 credit on the $518 bill for the inconvenience and again, she said nothing and handed me the bill. No customer service skills whatsoever. Not even an apology for the problem.

Mount Princeton Hot Springs has a shiny exterior with a great mountain view. The hot spring pools are plentiful and well kept. The cabin we stayed in by the river had that wonderful pine smell, was rustic and well furnished and very scenic. The problem with this resort is that the cabin cost $450 a night but for what? No maid or cleaning service came to make our beds or tidy up the kitchen. In fact, when we arrived the dishwasher had not been emptied from the previous guest. Instead of coming each day and checking our supplies, the housekeepers piled in shampoo, soap and conditioner and left us with 6 wash clothes but no extra towels.

When we checked in the front desk person could not provide us information for nearby attractions or hikes. Since it was after 5 pm he suggested we come back at 9 am to speak with the concierge. There was no binder of information for places to eat, hike or raft in the nearby town of Buena Vista and surrounding area. These are easy to provide and even Best Western and Super 8 hotels in the mountains provide this service.

The big disappointment was the restaurant. The first night we were there my mom, dad and I had dinner. We waited 45 minutes for our salads to be delivered. My mom had ordered the cup of soup and salad. When her salad came it was the wrong one. There are only 2 salads on the menu. My father and I had ordered the dinner salad but were served side salad. We alerted the waitress after we noticed our salads were all the same size. None of us bothered sending them back in fear of waiting for another 1/2 hour for the mistakes to be corrected.

We went back again for dinner the second night. Fool me twice shame on you! We ordered 2 steaks and a prime rib. My dad ordered the prime rib. 45 minutes later the waitress advised him that they were out. We still hadn't received our salads. My dad ordered a steak medium well. After another 45 minutes the steaks were served and non of them were cooked how we had ordered them. My dad could not eat his, it was rare. Luckily the waitress did not charge him for it after he showed it to her. We made reservations for dinner at 6:30. It makes no sense that our food was not served until after 8!

We spent over $2000 for 3 nights including our food, and for what? Yes, the water was nice but I expect more for that price.

Dear Valued Guest,

We would like to begin by thanking you for your feedback. I apologize that your stay did not meet your expectations.

Unfortunately, housekeeping is not always able to return to cabins before check-in to empty the dishwasher after running the cleaning cycle. We are sorry you were inconvenienced by this. We do a full-service clean in each stay-over unless guests request otherwise or post a Do Not Disturb sign. We will address our housekeeping staff on insuring that guests receive adequate service.

Our Concierge is available each day during normal business hours to assist with planning unique activities in the area. Though the concierge program is new to the resort, our staff should have made a better effort to assist you.

I also would like to apologize for your unsatisfactory experiences in our restaurant. Your server was very sorry about the issues with your salad and chose to supply you with a complimentary desert. There seems to have been some sort of miscommunication which is unacceptable. It is disconcerting that your service time was long and meals were incorrectly prepared. Our staff aims to remedy any problems brought to their attention promptly. We strive to provide the best service for our guests and are disappointed to have fallen short during your visit. We hope you will give Mt. Princeton a second chance to surpass your expectations in the future.

Best Wishes,

Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort Management

This place was amazing. The hot springs were so relaxing and it was nice that you could find your perfect temperture pool - like goldie locks finding the pooridge that was just right.
The cabins were so clean and well built and had the feel of a log cabin with modern amenities. I would stay here again in an instant. We even had a couple minor issues with electric upon arrival and they were taken care of so quickly that they weren't even a concern.

Room Tip: I don't know about the hotel/motel room section, we had a cabin, and I would highly recommend on...

We spent a leisurely afternoon at Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort. We were very pleased with our experience. It was apparent that there had been some major improvements to the property. In an another review, a reviewer complained about the number of stairs to reach the old bathhouse. What he/she did not mention was that it was very nicely landscaped with wide stairs and was not a problem to negotiate. The lady at the desk was very pleasant & answered all our questions with patience as it was our first time. We went on a Thursday, so we paid $18.95 per person with an additional $2 towel fee, which we were glad to pay to not deal with wet towels afterwards. For that fee, we had the use of the lower 2 pools, 1 of which is 105 deg. & the other 94 deg. & the upper pool which has a 400' slide, which has an additional $5 fee. The hotter pool is large & was very warm. We have been in the bathhouses in Hot Springs, AR in similar temperature pools, and perhaps because this pool is outdoors, it did not feel as hot as the one in Arkansas. Don't get me wrong, it was still very hot & enjoyable. The dressing room/locker room & showers were very nice & clean. The hotter pool is more or less the adult pool; the cooler pool is the lap pool which has most of the kids. We were there early in the summer season and there weren't many kids but if more privacy (no kids) is important, there is a solution here. For $35 per person, there is a real adult only pools (15 year olds +) in an additional bathhouse across the bridge over the river which is very, very nice. It has a large pool along with 3 hot-tub sized pools in which the hot water cascades from one to the other. This area has massages available & a nice lite meal counter with drinks available. These pools are available gratis to massage users on the property. Now about the river, with a late winter snow & snowmelt, the river which runs parallel to the lower pools was really flowing strong. Because of the amount of water flowing, we were not able to the use river side rock pools which I really looked forward to using. A friend of mine has done it & really enjoyed it. There are a lot of adirondack & lounge chairs to relax in. Between soaking in the hot pool, sitting out by the river taking in the sounds of the water swiftly rushing downstream, taking in the massive snow-laden mountains around me, I felt really away from it all. As an aside, I walked around the perimeter of the main resort entrance which is really nicely landscaped with real green grass & trees, and I can tell that the managers of this place take pride in this place. There is a really large & nice banquet room on the property, along with a variety of log cabins available for rent, along with the rooms at the resort itself on both sides of the river. Long story short, we will be back & will probably will book a cabin for at least a couple of days of R&R. Side adventures available in the Buena Vista area is white water rafting & horseback riding there is Nathrop.

Talked with management about smoking guests, strict policies need to be implemented, and restaurant tweaks. Could become a good place to keep secret. Has come a long way from last time I was there. Congratulations.
