My wife and I stayed here one evening, and had a hard time sleeping due to the uncomfortable beds, and noise from our neighbor's TV. When we called the front desk at midnight and asked to be moved to a different room, we were told the hotel was booked. I mentioned that were only a dozen or so cars in the parking lot, and the receptionist said they expected late guests. How many guests did they expect after midnight -- 100? I was very surprised they wouldn't move us to another room even though the hotel clearly had empty rooms available. We won't stay there again, that's for sure.

This was our second stay in 4 months. Movie Manor is a good, basic, clean motel, and during drive-in movie season, it's fun to watch from your room. Not all rooms are at an angle to allow you to watch from your bed, but you can pull the armchairs up to the picture window.
Things we like: cleanliness, the good luggage storage spot when you enter the room, the sink is separate from the shower and toilet, and the gorgeous view when you come out of your room in the morning and look across that open field to the moutains.
Things that aren't perfect: tiny bathroom, (but his is an older vintage motel) and quite firm bed.
The restaurant offers good basic fare, and the people are so nice. When we arrived late by towtruck in the rain last spring, they stayed open a bit late to see that we got fed a warm meal. Their breakfast burrito is wonderful!! Great green chili!

The concept is unique and it is a great idea in theory, but after waiting for 10 years to find a room available when I was passing thru ( they're usually booked up well in advance ), I was a little let down. There are 2 movie screens and my biggest complaint is that during our stay both movies showing were cartoon children's movies. Good grief!! I realize that they probably don't want to show movies that would be unsuitable for children, but this was really unfair. Also, only the sound from 1 of the movies ( the shortest one of course ) is available in your room. If you want to watch the other you have to drive over, which defeats the whole purpose of the hotel. I really think that if they are going to show 2 movies then the sound for both should be available so you can choose which one you want to watch. They should also ask you when you check in which movie you want to watch so they can put you on the right side of the hotel for the best viewing. As far as some of the other reviews complaints about the layout of the furniture, we found our room to be perfect for lying in bed and watching the movie. We had a great view of the screen.
The room itself was OK, however, the floor squeaked something terrible!! I hope no one was in the room below us or they probably thought the ceiling was going to fall in. We also thought the beds and pillows were not very comfortable.
We arrived from the west side and when we inquired about food we were told by the clerk that their restaurant was the only place around. We found out the next morning as we drove through Monte Vista that there were other restaurants. It made me mad that they lied to us to get our business. We wanted food to go so we could eat while we watched the movie and couldn't believe that they charge a $2.00 surcharge for to go orders! They should have been glad just to have the business! Things looked a bit slow. They were also a bit pricey and charge extra for substitutions. When we opened our food we had to go back to get all the condiments, Not what I call good service!
Overall, this place was a bit of a rip-off, overpriced for what you got, and not as good as expected.

I recently stayed here on a business trip. Most of the reviews on the website are written by people who are traveling for pleasure and they are with kids. I could see how it’s appealing to them with the movie theater attached. The rooms are a bit dated, yet clean. The bathroom had push button controls for the light and fan which is obviously old, nostalgic, and something I have not even seen in “retro” hotels. The hotel has internet access but it’s via cable only and not wireless. Every staff member I encountered was very friendly. The diner has good basic food but skip anything that sounds like it should be served at a higher end chop house (burgers, kibee, breakfast food - all good). The gym is rather small with one treadmill, one bike, one combo weight machine, and one very old style step machine. If others are in there it will be too tight to work out in. The good news is that there are plenty of dirt roads to run on nearby. The hotel is great for kids with a playground and movie theatre on site. I would stay here again if I traveled to the area. It does not have all the amenities you expect for business travel but it’s great for families and probably one of the best places in the area.

After eight days on the road staying in six different motels, this was just what our family needed: something different! We're movie buffs anyway, so we loved the little touches (like the movie prints in the room and the stars' names on the room doors). At sunset, we chose to drive on out to get the full drive-in effect. The kids had fun on the old-school playground, and then we had a wonderful night watching the movie under the stars.

We were looking for a place to stay between Durango and Colorado Springs when this motel caught our eye. We're glad it did! We'll be back if we're ever in the area again.

Traveling with 5 adults and 3 children we found this motel to be a wonderful experience! We watched the movie (Kung Fu Panda) from the two rooms and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the film. The older two also watched (but couldn't hear) the other movie (wasn't appropriate for the youngest anyway) and we walked outside to see all the stars (something we can't see at home - too many lights there!). The staff was wonderful and helpful, the snackbar was convenient for the 'movie night' we enjoyed too!

If we're ever back in this area of Colorado, we'll make sure to include BW Movie Manor in our agenda!
