“Holiday memories at the Meeker Hotel. We loved the Roosevelt Suite.”
Reviewed December 22, 2011

We spent most of our visit with friends upriver this time. The White River cannot be beat for its beauty and in winter it is uniquely beautiful, but we had to stop and spend at least one night at the Meeker Hotel. Wonderful progress has been made since our last visit. The main staircase is amazing and there is a wonderful picture of it on their website meekerhotel.com. The girl at the front desk was friendly and upgraded us to the Teddy Roosevelt suite. We'd been considering it for a while and were not disappointed. Authentic brick walls, a plethora of Teddy photos (some we'd never seen, including a wonderful family portrait). The room has a dual pedestal sink bathroom. Plentiful light, sparkling black and white tile, and a clawfoot bathtub. I swore the red bath in the Billy the Kid room would always be my favorite, but this bathroom is a close second. Personally, I still like the exposed brick and large window in the other bath, but this one is worth seeing and very comfortable. And the website is updated, so if you can't make a visit than you can get a real feel for the place on the new website before making reservations. It is lovely. And if you enjoyed the history book that Kimberly compiled than she has posted that online as well so it is available to everyone. Thank you dear!! It is a wonderful piece of Meeker to take home with you and I've been pestering her since our visit this past summer. Happy holidays to everyone there (I'll include a pic that they sent us for the holidays). Thank you again for making our visit memorable. We will back in June.

Room Tip: We have enjoyed the Roosevelt, Billy the Kid and family has loved the Brick Suite.

Great location on Main Street in Meeker for this old hotel. Teddy Roosevelt stayed here (but they've changed the mattresses since). We had a room on the front balcony and enjoyed watching the local traffic. The cafe was mediocre. The staff was very helpful. The bed was comfortable. Very interesting lobby - made me feel like a great white hunter.

At the Meeker Hotel you will journey back in time to an era of grit and grace. Lose yourself between the brick walls of this historic hotel and imagine those that walked the halls before you.

Newly restored rooms to suit everyones taste, this hotel is down right charming! If your looking for a "cookie cutter" hotel with identical rooms, this may not be your place. But if you wish to experience the old west the way Teddy Roosevelt did, this place is for you. Join the ranks, become a pioneer and embrace a piece of true Colorado history.

The Meeker Hotel staff was very accommodating during our stay. There is the cafe next door for breakfeast, lunch and dinner. It is good to know places like this still exist and thrive. There is so much more to see at the Meeker Hotel, come see it for yourself!

We ordered breakfast, mid-morning on Sept 13, 2011. Service was slow. Breakfast was cold, sent it back, still came back cold and barely cooked. Complained to server, she said there was nothing she could do. Terrible food. Won't go back.

I read the previous review and am convinced this must be someone, somewhere with a grudge or a misplaced sense of direction. IThis is a small, historic hotel and i can swear that if there was mold within 500 yards of this place, the on site managers would probably have a stroke. This hotel is charming, peaceful, relaxing and quaint.....however, don't let that make you think it is old fashioned. They have just completed a massive renovation and the bathrooms are wonderful, new fresh linens, beds, paint, good internet service..... I cannot guarantee that the renovation has rid of the place of its (in)famous ghosts.... still a little oddin the early morning hours and still great stories, but an all around delightful experience. I have travelled there extensively and the new kitchen and hotel remodeling make it absolutely delightful.

I hope Trip Advisor will contact the Meeker Hotel innkeeper and verify the most recent review. It bears no resemblance to the hotel we stayed in two weeks ago. The hotel is a gem with a wonderful collection of historic photos, stories and of course elk and deer mounts. We stayed in Room #24 which is a lovely two room suite with exposed brick walls. It was light and cheery. My daughter and son-in-law, who were traveling with us, stayed in Room #8 which had a porclain tile bath floor, a clawfoot bathtub and a chandelier in the bathroom! You would think the friendly innkeeper might be hiding 'heinous' rooms, but when we asked for a tour she kindly took us through 9-10 rooms. They were all unique and beautiful, some with hardwood floors. We saw absolutely no evidence of 'heinous' or dangerous conditions. The linens were nice, and to mention tags, my comforter read Laura Ashley:) I did not see a single window air conditioner and this was in July so I wonder if perhaps 'flibgib' reveiwed the wrong establishment? This would a shame. Please look into it Trip Advisor and determine if there was a mistake made for as I said, we were there a couple of weeks ago. Thanks!

We booked 3 nights here and if there had been any other rooms available in town we would have scarfed one up! There were holes in the walls where exposed wires had been repaired (badly I might add). The shower had Congoleum (we know this because they hadn't even bothered to cut the stamped edge off) linoleum stuffed into a tiny square shower turning it into an even tinier round shower (and disgustingly moldy). The ancient wallpaper was filthy and stained from water leaks. And to top it all off, the window air conditioner had a 25' extension cord draped over the headboard to the archaic outlet that didn't have a ground! I guess I can say I'm happy we lived to tell about the whole experience!!

Room Tip: Don't bother with this hotel
