We spent most of our visit with friends upriver this time. The White River cannot be beat for its beauty and in winter it is uniquely beautiful, but we had to stop and spend at least one night at the Meeker Hotel. Wonderful progress has been made since our last visit. The main staircase is amazing and there is a wonderful picture of it on their website meekerhotel.com. The girl at the front desk was friendly and upgraded us to the Teddy Roosevelt suite. We'd been considering it for a while and were not disappointed. Authentic brick walls, a plethora of Teddy photos (some we'd never seen, including a wonderful family portrait). The room has a dual pedestal sink bathroom. Plentiful light, sparkling black and white tile, and a clawfoot bathtub. I swore the red bath in the Billy the Kid room would always be my favorite, but this bathroom is a close second. Personally, I still like the exposed brick and large window in the other bath, but this one is worth seeing and very comfortable. And the website is updated, so if you can't make a visit than you can get a real feel for the place on the new website before making reservations. It is lovely. And if you enjoyed the history book that Kimberly compiled than she has posted that online as well so it is available to everyone. Thank you dear!! It is a wonderful piece of Meeker to take home with you and I've been pestering her since our visit this past summer. Happy holidays to everyone there (I'll include a pic that they sent us for the holidays). Thank you again for making our visit memorable. We will back in June.
