“Highly Recommended. We were unimpressed”
Reviewed August 2, 2012

We had very high hopes for the Crystal Park Cantina after the way a couple of co-workers raved. Perhaps it was just this visit. Both my wife and I got sick after departing. Two days later, I am just recovering.
- Hostess attempted seating us upstairs where 75% of the tables had the chairs turned over on top. We felt like we were heading into a place that gets no business. We quickly asked to be seated by the bar. We arrived at 6PM on a weekday.
- It took 15 minutes for a waitress to deliver menus, then another 15 minutes for her to return for a drink order
- The Del Norte beers on tap are lifeless compared to Colorado microbrews. Touted as Mexican Style beers, there really are no such things. I lived in Mexico City for 2 years. The Mexican beer is german-style exclusively. The menu does not break out what to expect from the 4 beers listed. I asked the waitress which was most like a "Pale Ale." She had no clue what a pale ale was and recommended the lightest one, basically yellow water
- The fish tacos are made from Tilapia, a fish type that we will not eat.
- The chicken enchiladas were advertised as "with Manchego cheese." They arrived as gooey, greasy cheese enchiladas with a couple of pieces of pulled chicken in each. My wife always orders chicken encilladas, but reported these as the worst ever. She could only eat a few bites.
- The chicken burrito was advertised as "roasted chicken." Instead it tasted like stewed and/or smoked chicken. There was no sense at all of roasted chicken.
- The rice was dry and crumbly.
- The beans were excellent
- The waitress was lifeless, never re-filled our water, never re-filled our chips, asked me if I wanted another beer, but did not ask those with me if they wanted another margarita.
- If you ask for separate checks, a 20% gratuity is added automatically. Be careful.

Our guest was a Mexican visiting the Springs. We were not pleased, nor was she.

“Dissapointment”
Reviewed August 2, 2012

We made reservations, one week prior, for a birthday celebration for a party of 11. We arrived early on that Saturday, and then waited 5-10 minutes to set up for our party. Should that have been done BEFORE we arrived? Silverware was 'dumped' in the center of the table for us to sort through. Chips and salsa wer served, after a significant wait, with greasy chips. Really? We ordered for nine, the other couple was ten minutes late, then had to wait fifteen minutes before our 'late ' couple could order. Drinks were served, with the ice completely melted...sitting on the bar too long? The worst part was the food service. Our party was served helter-skelter. The last order taken was served first, with a ten to fifteen minutes wait before the next couple was served and so on. Shouldn't the entire party have been served at the same time? The first person to order, was served last, with a cold entree. Something not right here...So, when we were asked if anyone wanted desert...a resounding no was the unanimous reply. A big dissapointment.

We had visited and enjoyed our previous meals, with parties of 2 to 4, on several occasions.

This incident soured us on the whole place. I know of eleven potential patrons who will NOT be back...

“Creative menu”
Reviewed July 30, 2012

We ordered the sweet potato nachos and they were unlike anything I have ever had and, oh, so good! The carne asada was the best we've ever had. Service was slow because the place was packed, but they kept the chips and delicious homemade salsa coming.

“Just yummy!”
Reviewed July 17, 2012 via mobile

The appetizers, the margaritas, the entrees....All delicious! We visited right after the fires and they were certainly glad to have customers, but you can tell that this is just a great place with great food! After a day of hiking in Garden of the Gods, we filled up with jalapeño poppers, guacamole and other delicious treats! Don't miss the margarita with jalapeño and cilantro!!!
