“Remarkable Presentation”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

Our first time at Cliff House was a business dinner with some business colleagues. We wanted to get away from the crowds leaving our convention. We selected Cliff based on a recommendation. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant which was a very nice location. We were greeted by name and quickly given an opportunity to order beverages. The service was spot on- the timing was well paced for our conversation. It seemed as if they knew it was business and timed it just right. I ordered the Colorado Bass. The presentation was spectacular and the food was exactly as i expected- remarkable. My colleagues ordered the Trout and the Salmon. Both commented on the excellent preparation and taste. The noise level was low and the traffic in and out of the kitchen was minimal.
I say BRAVO Cliff House and look for me again next year.

“Very disappointing”
Reviewed September 20, 2012

This was a return visit to the Cliff House dining room. Our prior visit was excellent and we were excited to bring our friends to this special place! We sat on the beautiful porch that overlooks the gardens. It became evident that it would not be a repeat of our last visit when the wine steward brought a 2009 bottle of wine when a 2006 was ordered. He argued that he had brought us the "better" bottle. When we insisted on our selection he went to get it and, of course, did not have it. Three bottles later he actually delivered our final selection. Then he brought the wrong bottle of red wine and resented the fact that we asked to be served the one we ordered. It took 1/2 hour to get 2 bottles of wine and we served the wine ourselves after that. The wait service started out good; however, as the evening progressed everyone seemed to disappear. When she did come by I joked to her that we thought everyone had gone home - no response. Our appetizers were good and the entrees were prepared well. This was overshadowed by the service and we will not return. I was embarrassed that I had brought guests.

“Good Meal”
Reviewed September 14, 2012

We had a nice dinner here. The food was well prepared and presented. Service was very good. At the end of a week of traveling and eating out, it wasn't memorable, but we remembered it was being good.

“Consistently Excellent”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

We dined at the Cliff House in early September, our third visit over the past few years. The food and service has always been exceptional. On this visit my wife and I each had 6 oz. Filet Mignon which was excellent and prepared as requested. There is a nice selection of wines by the glass and an extensive selection by the bottle with some half bottle options available. With salads, a nice glass of wine each, a sharred desert and tip the total bill was under $100. Recommended for a special occasion or an elegant dinner out. Valet parking is available at the door or on-street parking can typically be found nearby. Casual dress is acceptable but the ambiance is more toward elegant.

“"Table for Two" special was exquisite!”
Reviewed September 8, 2012

Their Table for Two special was just great (especially for $59.00). We had tasty salads (mixed greens, candied walnuts, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, crumbled blue cheese and a nice vinaigrette), followed by 6 oz. Filet Mignon (perfect as medium rare) that is stuffed with truffle and topped with melted blue cheese. The steaks are accompanied by asparagus spears, a cooked carrot and very good mashed potatoes that have a blend of tang and sweet to them. The dinner is finished by a trio of Creme Brule', which was a perfect ending. We added their mushroom appetizer to the special, and it was out-of-this-world good! The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable regarding each dish. They enjoyed talking about the flavors of each dish, if you so desired. The ambiance is elegant Victorian, with nice touches everywhere you look. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and recommend the dining room as a treat for your taste buds on a special occasion.
