We spent two days at The Cliff House to celebrate our anniversary and we absolutely loved it! The staff were very professional, friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely and clean and it had some old world charm, along with up to date amenities. The beds were really comfy and it was easy to get a good night's sleep. We had booked the romance package and were treated to some fine wine, chocolate strawberries and best wishes for a happy anniversary which I thought was a nice touch. The buffet breakfast was very good and plentiful. We had a special dinner and it was very delicious the servers were attentive but not over bearing. So glad I was able to have the raspberry souflle that night, what a treat! We truly enjoyed our stay at The Cliff House and have no complaints at all. We plan on making a trip to Manitou Springs again and there is no doubt that we would stay here.

This place maintains it's level of quality experienced in previous visits. The staff is professional and attentive. That said, two small negatives. First, the rooms run small. Not tiny, but not roomy either. Second is their policy of charging $9 per person per day for a service fee intended to share gratuities with all staff. But it's not easy to remember not to tip the valet parker or the waitstaff in the restaurants so you wind up overtipping.

We loved staying at The Cliff House. Saw it online as we were looking for a place to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We wanted to se the aspens this time of year. The hotel was in excellent condition, a good location just a block off Main Street in Manitou Sptings, close to several sights. Staff were VERY warm and helpful. We reserved the basic studio room and it was very nice. Breakfast buffet was good, the same entree items each morning but a variety. Made dinner reservation for one night and the waiter staff and dinner was excellent. Waiters not only knew the menu and specials for the night, but how each item was prepared and the ingredients used. The atmosphere of the hotel was relaxing and quiet. We love history and this hotel had a neat history to share. Only criticism was the TV in our room was in an awkward position in relation to the bed, and the air vent blew directly on our faces during the night, things which can easily be remedied if the staff takes the suggestion to heart. We highly recommend The Cliff House

Room Tip: We didn't see other rooms but our studio room was very adequate and nicely furnished. I'm su...

The Cliff House, with its central location in Manitou Springs, offers all kinds of diversions e.g. restaurants, shops, Pike's Peak, Manitou Incline, etc. The rooms are very comfortable, however, so you might just prefer to stay in, eat in. Breakfast is included with the room and it was definitely a step up from the usual hotel breakfast buffet. The room had a jacuzzi tub and a Toto toilet with a heated seat! I'm sure that comes in handy mid-winter. Room rates fluctuate seasonally so you might want to keep an eye out. If you book ahead you could grab yourself a great rate, or the opposite, lock in a room rate that drops! We had a junior suite and it was very comfortable although the view was not pleasant. The bed was comfortable and had decent linens. It was off-season so I don't know what happens when the temperature drops. Service was erratic, sometimes friendly and sometimes not. Parking is very tricky by the hotel so you will have to park with the valet.

The Cliff House is close to my home, so I have only stayed there once, but the room was fantastic. Even better, is the retaurant there. Treat yourself and have a wonderful dinner at the Clifff House. Without a doubt it's my favorite place to eat in the Colorado Springs area, but I need to save it for special occasions. It's a liitle expensive-but well worth it!

All the employees here were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I loved the room. The bed was very comfortable. I enjoyed the steam shower - an unexpected treat. This hotel is in walking distance to everything. The breakfast is included and was very good. Quite the romantic place! Wish we could have stayed longer.

Stayed at the Cliff House, a lovely old hotel carefully restored to its glory with modern conveniences. I do love Victorian architecture and furnishings, especially when they are side by side with marble Jacuzzi in each room, his and hers ornamented sinks in the bathroom, fireplace and room service! Breakfast buffet was plenty and healthy. Maybe too healthy for my taste, I asked for a whole wheat dry toast only to get some mushy piece of gluten free stuff. Later I found out the hotel gets their pastries and bread from a 100% gluten free bakery next door. One would think that a hotel that so marvelously took care of every lovely detail, making sure the guests are happy, would realize that there are more "normal" guests than "abnormal", but hey, it's just me, they see it differently. I was even offered soy milk (unsolicited!) at breakfast.
My real beef with the Cliff hotel is their service policy: a service charge of $9/day/person is added to the bill, in addition to a Parking fee. I don't mind the Parking fee, it's Valet Parking and you cannot easily park on the streets around the hotel, it's all 3 hrs parking. What I do mind is that the Service charge applied automatically on the bill breaks the relation between service provider and service user. On one side, I have seen too many cases when the money does not really go the service personnel but adds to the bottom line of the establishment. On the other side, and this is more important, such scheme is damaging in the long run. Mind you, I am not complaining from lack of service - personnel was consistently pleasant and efficient. However, since they have no feedback on how they are doing, in the long run service has no choice but to go down. I tipped everybody anyway, just to give that feedback. But that means double cost to me, the consumer...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
What makes a hotel truly special?Prestige? Romance? Luxury? As a four diamond Colorado Springs Hotel, these attributes are very important, and we have each of them in abundance, but none of them matter as much as... the stories. The stories that are started here, by brides and grooms celebrating their weddings. The stories that are commemorated here, when couples choose us for their anniversaries. The stories that are shared here, when family vacations become unforgettable memories. Our stories really do matter: they define who we are. You see, as the premier historic hotel of the Greater Colorado Springs area, our history is forever intertwined with what we are today. In fact, The Cliff House is older than the State of Colorado itself! And just like your story, we have had our ups and downs: we have played host to famous dignitaries, and we have been a barracks for soldiers. Later floods and fires have even threatened our hotel's very existence. But, just like you, we've persevered. After our extensive remodel and grand re-opening in 1999, we quickly proved that The Cliff House is once again one of Colorado's finest luxury hotels. Nestled at the foot of majestic Pikes Peak, we've managed to keep all the trappings of Victorian elegance and luxury and also become a leader in innovative room features with state-of-the-art technology. Since 2001, we've consecutively received the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award for both the hotel and our dining room. Our dining room has also received the DiRoNa Award, and Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence, every year. From our world-class fine dining, our amazing rooms, personalized service, our fun new bar and grill, to the limitless experiences and activities Manitou Springs has to offer: we are confident that you will love your stay here... and what a story you'll have to tell! We're proud of our history. Come share yours with us! We're within ten minutes of downtown Colorado Springs, but (rest assured) a world away! ... more   less
