This is a very short review. I do not have one negative thing to say about this hotel. When you pull into the drive, you are greeted by not just one, but two folks ready to get bags, park your car, escort you into the hotel and so on.
This treatment continued throughout our stay. Certainly a 5 star hotel!

We've enjoyed many dinners at the Cliff House in their restaurant, very tasty and a beautiful building full of history. But we really enjoy sitting out on their terrace at the Red Mountain Bar and Grill (part of the Cliff House) during the summer months, watching passers by and eating a nice, casual and affordable meal or just for drinks after a local show.

The bar area itself is small but attractive with dining tables and an indoor/outdoor fireplace and tvs to watch games, etc. It's one of our favorite places to dine and hang out in Manitou Springs.

My wife and I have stayed in both turrets. The Firestone three years ago and now we were able to stay in the Buffalo Bill turret this past weekend.

Very nice accomodations (like stepping back in time) and the restaurant is the best place the two of us have ever eaten at.

Attentive and very friendly service. I would recommend staying here...especially during the off-season without tourism.

Already looking forward to our next trip!

Room Tip: The turrets only have queen size beds but the other suites have kind-size.

This hotel had a 10 million dollar make over in the early 90's after a fire left it standing vacant for 16 years. It is in a register with other historical hotels in the US.and also mentioned in Travel and Leisure Magazine as one of the top 100 hotels in the world. The rooms are clean and with historical looking appearance. . As far as the restaurant, The food was superb. Currently renowned CHEF SCOTT SAVAGE is there in the restaurant as Executive chef offering excellent food choices. We had a great two day visit.

We held a holiday party at the Cliff House and had the opportunity to spend the night at discounted rates. It was an excellent experience. The food, which was a buffet, was first class. The highlight was a prime rib prepared to perfection. We have stayed here on other occasions and had dinner at the restaurant, which was equally tasty. The breakfast buffet was adequate but nothing special.

We stayed in one of the junior suites which is a worthwhile upgrade over the regular rooms. The room is very comfortable. The room was mostly quiet, but could be noisy depending on the neighbors. The location in Manitou is quiet and just a short walk to the center of town.

Service was excellent and were was treated very well.

The "added fees" quickly increased the room cost, so be aware that the listed price is not the final price.
Definitely recommended for a romantic get away.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Cliff House. Several years ago, this historic hotel underwent a multi-million dollar renovation. Generally speaking, it was very well done. Most of the rooms have gas fireplaces, and ours had a great view. Manitou Springs is a great little town with lots of shops and a pretty setting on a mountain stream.

Room Tip: You want to face the town side. Some have steam showers, and some have whirlpool tubs. Our whirlpo...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
What makes a hotel truly special?Prestige? Romance? Luxury? As a four diamond Colorado Springs Hotel, these attributes are very important, and we have each of them in abundance, but none of them matter as much as... the stories. The stories that are started here, by brides and grooms celebrating their weddings. The stories that are commemorated here, when couples choose us for their anniversaries. The stories that are shared here, when family vacations become unforgettable memories. Our stories really do matter: they define who we are. You see, as the premier historic hotel of the Greater Colorado Springs area, our history is forever intertwined with what we are today. In fact, The Cliff House is older than the State of Colorado itself! And just like your story, we have had our ups and downs: we have played host to famous dignitaries, and we have been a barracks for soldiers. Later floods and fires have even threatened our hotel's very existence. But, just like you, we've persevered. After our extensive remodel and grand re-opening in 1999, we quickly proved that The Cliff House is once again one of Colorado's finest luxury hotels. Nestled at the foot of majestic Pikes Peak, we've managed to keep all the trappings of Victorian elegance and luxury and also become a leader in innovative room features with state-of-the-art technology. Since 2001, we've consecutively received the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award for both the hotel and our dining room. Our dining room has also received the DiRoNa Award, and Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence, every year. From our world-class fine dining, our amazing rooms, personalized service, our fun new bar and grill, to the limitless experiences and activities Manitou Springs has to offer: we are confident that you will love your stay here... and what a story you'll have to tell! We're proud of our history. Come share yours with us! We're within ten minutes of downtown Colorado Springs, but (rest assured) a world away! ... more   less
