We recently traveled throughout New Mexico and Colorado, staying at several places during the trip. Sundance Bear was our first B&B and by far the best place we stayed during the entire trip. The grounds and view are just amazing, and the warm welcome we received from Bob and Sue was genuine and made us feel right at home. They are very knowledgeable about the area and shared that with us, resulting in interesting discussions. We traveled to Mesa Verde and rode the Durango Railroad from the lodge. Bob even got up early on our railroad day to serve us muffins and yogurt before we left, ensuring a good start to the day. The other mornings we were served delicious hot breakfasts and then given snacks to get us through the day. We were treated better at Sundance Bear lodge than we treat ourselves at home! And oh, yes - Bob and Sue are art collectors and the pieces we enjoyed in the great room were just unbelievable - like enjoying our own art museum while sitting beside a nice, warm fire. We stayed in the Mesa Verde room and were very comfortable - Bob had even lit the corner fireplace to warm our Florida blood! We thank the lodge so much for making our vacation wonderful and highly recommend it to all travelers.

Stayed with friends in the Lodge for 2 nights where there are two rooms with a great room which we had all to ourselves. This place is extraordinary. They are on 80 stunnng acres with a beautiful pond and views to die for. Hosts were terrific and made us feel right at home. Why would anyone stay in a roadside motel when this place is minutes away. Breakfast included at the lodge was great--tons of delicious food and lots of choices. I notice everyone gives this B&B 5 stars and we are no exception.

We had not stayed in a b&b before, and were very pleased with the experience. The only problem we had was the room we stayed in, the Mancos Room, was somewhat small and was too hot to sleep in until the middle of the night. Therefore would NOT recommend anyone stay in that room during the summer. Everything else was great, and can't say enough good things about it.

Outside temps those two nights were about 55-60F and the Mancos room has a ceiling fan so it is normally not a problem. There was no cross breeze then and the room was slow to cool down. We didn’t know until they left, but immediately purchased a small portable window fan for the room to “help the breeze” should that happen again. We enjoyed their visit and are sorry it wasn’t perfect.

We had a lovely one night stay at the lodge in the larger of the two rooms. The lodge was a scenic drive up the valley from Mancos where we enjoyed a good supper in a family style restaurant.
Sundance Bear lodge was beautifully situated with stunning views in every direction from every room.
Our host made us very welcome and cooked a lovely home style breakfast served in the dining room -again with those views! Our room was clean, cosy and very comfortable and after a good nights sleep we drove the short distance to Mesa Verde National Park which was fantastic.Sadly we had to continue on our journey but would like to return to southern Colorado and the Sundance Bear lodge to spend more time there and explore more of the area.

This B & B was one of the highlights of our holiday. The owners were warm, welcoming and informative about the area. The house was beautiful and guests have the grounds outside to explore (or in my case, lounge about in).
Guests also have the lounge /dining area to take advantage of and how pleasant it was to slump down in the massive seats in the evening with a book and a glass of wine.
The breakfasts were excellent and my food allergy was always considered when breakfast was served, so if the main dish contained cheese, I received something special, just for me!
We had the Mesa Verde bedroom and it contained everything we needed and had a lovely en suite bathroom with plenty of shelf room. Apart from coyotes there wasn't a sound at night, and there's no denying the coyotes get the imagination working as you lie, nice and cozy, half-awake listening to them..

Sue and Bob have created a wonderful welcoming B&B. Excellent lounge and dining room, deck, and hot tub. Great conversation over a magnificent breakfast. Great selection of books etc on local travel and history. Plenty of space to walk around and enjoy great views. Great location for driving the amazing San Juan Skyway. The only drawback could be that eating places in the area are a bit limited but never mind that, just go!
We don't usually do B&B because when travelling we like to get up and go. Here we just wanted to get up and stay! Excellent value for those who love travel.

This lodge has it all- beautiful views, good food, snacks, friendly & helpful hosts, a hot tub, places to hike, friendly cats & a very comfortable great room. The great room lives up to its name. It is a large, attractive, comfortable room with a fireplace, views of beautiful Colorado, games, TV, and reading materials about the region. While our room was small, it had a very comfortable bed and the bathroom was stocked with anything you might have forgotten. We spent most of our time in the great room. We also took a hike around their 80-acre property.
