Other reviews give the low-down on the food and drinks. I want to call your attention to the museum quality collection of music-related art. It is especially strong on primitive or "art brut". Thank the owner for the years he dedicated assembling these works and for sharing them on the walls of his pub.

Colorado is packed full of breweries, Oskar food puts them out in front of others but there beer selection was lacking when we were there not having half the menu available and there specials for the day were not great.
Wings and pizza were the stand out items, and service was good. Venue looked very cool to see some live music, just wasn't a fan of the beer.

Traveled from out of state to visit high school classmates. I had heard lots about Oskar Blues, most of it very high praise. So I had high expectations when choosing this place to meet.

The ratings for this place should be split into two categories: one for upstairs dining, the other for the downstairs bar. Seating for both was surprisingly relatively easy to come by on a Friday night, which was nice. They do have a nice selection of craft beers, some of them very good. I highly recommend the Ted FIDY (imperial stout), it's among the best I've ever tasted. It's also got a very high alcohol %, so it's served in a small glass...be careful ;)

The decor upstairs is folky, fitting for the Lyons/Boulder area. The main course was OK, lots of sandwiches (I had pulled pork), but the appetizers were surprisingly good (crab cakes, fried pickles, hot wings). The downstairs bar is small and unbearable with a live band playing if you actually want to talk with someone. Dancing, sure. Talking, no.

If visiting the Lyons area exclusively, Oskar Blues is a fine place to hang out and relax. If you're visiting the greater rangeline area (Boulder, Estes Park, Longmont, etc...), a better venue can be found for the $.

Met an old high school classmate here for dinner and drinks. Appetizer Sampler was good. The Catfish Nuggets were the table favorite with a close second on the Crab Cakes. Fried Pickles were a follow-up purchase and were excellent. Not the common frozen Pickle Chips, but real end-to-end sliced pickles dipped in batter. Was probably the best thing we had here, however. Beer is overpriced for the quality and the bands play so loudly in the lower level you can't hear anyone who talks to you. Atmosphere is excellent and some good bands do come through and play at an acceptable level. Not sure if the sound guy is deaf or what?! If he's not yet, he soon will be.

Visited right before Mardi Gras. The place was festive and hey served up good creole style cooking. Friendly waitstaff, although a bit slow and inattentive at times.
