“Decent Mex Food in South Denver”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2011

This place is in a strip mall off of Holly and County Line in South Denver. Kind of unassuming, until you get inside when there are often huge waits most every night. There is a lack of decent mex food in the south suburbs anyway, so this place's popularity is based on that fact and also that the food is really good and consistent. Both are important in a world with a wide range of quality of mex food.

The place is open for breakfast on the weekends and has a live Mariachi band on Wednesday night which you either love or hate. We go off times and off nights, and get chicken burritos and fajitas, mexican steak, mexican pork chops and combo plates. All quite good, the green chili is not too hot. Service is mostly good, but about every fourth visit they server is just not quite on or in synch with the kitchen. Decent chips and salsa also and memorable guacamole.

“Good food; good margaritas; all else is average.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2011

This place was hopping as it should be on a Friday night beginning a three day weekend. We were told a 30 minute wait, but it was more like an hour. This was OK at first as we were able to get drinks at the bar reasonably quickly, but 30 minutes into our wait, it was evident that more people were leaving than were coming in. When we saw numerous open tables, it was annoying that were weren't getting seated. This was one of those cases where the management was obviously keeping the front of the house artificially crowded to make the joint look more busy than it was. The other annoying aspect was that the wait staff became more and more lackadaisical. We were never offered chips and salsa as waited for our table whilst sipping on $10.00 margaritas (worth the price). Eventually we were seated. The second round of drinks was slow, but our waitress was pleasant. Our food was a little slow to arrive, but it was fresh and delicious, although this is not the best Mexican food ever. Head deep into Arizona and Texas and you will find better. The only real letdown from a food perspective was the chips. They were cold, unsalted, and tasted as if they'd been fried in week old oil. The other let down was that a bathroom visit requires one to walk through the back of the kitchen. The floor was covered with discarded lemon wedges, ice and spilled water. Very tacky and a bit of a downer. Overall it was an good evening. If you want reasonably priced, decent Mexican food, this is worth a visit. Just don't set your expectations too high based on the rating and other reviews.

“The best green chili!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2011

We go to Los Dos Potrillos on Holly at least twice a month for lunch or dinner. Their carnitas tacos are wonderful and my husband loves their seafood tacos. You have to try their "Cheese Dip" - a bowl of their green chili with cheese melted in it served with warm tortilla chips.
The margaritas are wonderful - and great price too!
Be there by 5:30 on Friday or Saturday night or call ahead.

“The BEST Chicken Enchilada”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2011

Oh my, oh my....they do Mexican food right. I moved away from the area recently and still have dreams about their chicken enchiladas. Simple and fantastic flavor.

“MOST AMAZING FOOD!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2010

This restaurant is ALWAYS packed and usually we have waited upwards of 40 minutes for a table. The food is absolutely to die for authentic Mexican. The service can be slow but is always friendly and is like I said, probably because they are ALWAYS packed. It's quite a sight for a stripmall restaurant in the suburbs. If you have the chance to go, don't miss it. Amazing food.
