Nice trails and pretty easy walking mostly. Scenery is nice when everything is all greened up against the red rock formations... If you like hiking you'll like this part.

It's a lovely hike through the red rocks. It's mostly level and takes about an hour to get back to the beginning. There is wild life so you never know what you'll see.

This beautiful State Park has many trails to explore for all levels of hikers!

A different experience is yours with each visit throughout all the seasons. The sandstone formations salute into the bright blue Colorado sky as though they are saluting to Helios, the Greek Sun God.

The green foliage and red rock colors are stunning in the height of summer, especially in the dawn and dusk light, as it is ever changing on the geological formations and moving shadows.

Worried about mountain lions? Check with the Park Ranger in the station and they will give you tips on what to do, if you do happen to encounter these beautiful elusive creatures. I have seen fox, deer, eagles, and even a bear here, but not yet a mountain lion over the 10 years I have hiked here!

Tip: If you love it here as much I do, buy a State Park Pass! The money spent is well worth the peace that will come to you while hiking this area.

A friend and I need to train for a strenuous hike later this spring. Roxborough offers trails that are easy to moderate to strenuous. This is kind of one stop for people needing to work up to the next level of hiking without traveling far.
The entry road is in deplorable condition. Make sure that things in your vehicle are tied down tightly. I think the road is left rough to discourage repeat visits.
There are few facilities in the park. I have been told that is to help preserve the natural state of the area. The park is never crowded unless there is a special event that day.
Come here at least once to say you have been here. Make sure nothing has fallen off your vehicle at the gate on the way out.

We visit several times each summer. Beautiful location and great nature center to inform everyone and get you to the right trails.
