I love visiting the Botanical gardens. There is never a time I am not amazed and at peace there. I love the music as you walk down into the first area because sometimes I just sit there for an hour and get caught up in the beauty that is there. Everything from the Roses to the eating areas are wonderful.

Wonderful place to visit in the winter. All of the topiaries lit up, as well as, the grounds - the night we were there it was snowing and was an incredible winter wonderland!

I didn't have too much time to explore since I got there late and there was still lots of snow on the ground but it looks like a great place to come in the spring/summer time. The lady at the welcome center was very informative and nice. I walked around a bit in the snow but didn't get to see too much. Maybe I'll get to come back here when the weather is better.

I have taken our family to DBG at Chatfield for Halloween's Pumpkin Harvest as well as the Trail of Lights at Christmas-time. It's a very fun, open venue with plenty of room for running!

At Halloween time, the grounds feature a large pumpkin patch where you can select the one(s) you want. If you bring your kids in their Halloween costumes, you get free admission! I'd recommend bringing your own wagon with you so you can haul pumpkins, kids, purchases, etc. during the day.

They also have several booths set up with activities and services for purchase: face painting, snacks, food, beverages, farmers' market wares, etc. There are authentic tractors set up throughout where the kids can climb on and play while you snap pictures. :)

There is also a GREAT corn maze for adults or older, braver kids which spans over an acre. A smaller, kid-friendly maze is available as well.

===========

The Trail of Lights, while likely very chilly, is GORGEOUS. Once again, I recommend bringing along a wagon with some blankets if your kids get too cold - the cooler air from the Front Range as well as nearby Chatfield Reservoir provide a 10-20 degree drop from the rest of the neighborhood.

Hot cocoa and snacks are available for purchase at a few points on the trail, and the mature trees are dressed to the nines with gorgeous lights of all colors.

The Denver Botanic Gardens seem to be well organized and operated. This area offers some wilder species plus an arbereeum of trees and a popular cornfield where a maze is constructed each fall. Good place for a leisurely hike at the mouth of Deer Creek Canyon.
