At the end of a 1 mile trek there lies one of the most unique restaurants you will ever experience. The incredible mountain view setting for this rustic/canvass walled restaurant is almost beyond description. The interior of the restaurant is warm and cozy. The Alaskan Salmon Tacos, Bison Burger and Grilled Chicken entrees were well received by our group. The wine and beer selection was excellent and our server was knowledgeable and friendly. The only negative is that the rest room is similar to what you find in the national parks at the trail heads. No further description required. The beauty of the place and the great food made up for this minor inconvenience. Worth the effort! Give yourself time to adjust to the altitude and don't push too hard on the trek to the restaurant.

The view and the food were awesome yesterday. Bright sunshine, cool but not cold weather!
The yurt was warm and cozy. The hike was a bit difficult at altitude but worth it. The food could be pricey depending on what you ordered but the price is worth the experience!

A friend convinced hubby & I to join them for this experience & we jumped on it! Guests meet at the Nordic Center, where you choose to either snow shoe or cross country ski the @1 mile to the yurt where dinner is served. The hike is at 10,000 feet, so not something to do on your first day at altitude. There was a gal on O2 at a neighboring table, who had just arrived from sea level. Our group of 5 enjoyed the chicken, elk & lamb dishes, all very generous portions with lots of signature mashed potatoes. All of us were grateful for the post dinner 1 mile trek back, as we were quite stuffed! Service was great!

The setting, the service, and the food simply cannot be beat. Not cheap...but you get what you pay for, At best I can only afford to eat here maybe once a year...on special occasions...and it's worth the wait, as well as every penny. One of the best meals I've ever eaten...I can't wait to return.

It is a tradition. Every winter we trek to Leadville, ski in the cold evening air, enter a toasty yurt, full of the scents of a great meal and a wood burning stove. Enjoy a nice hot cider, a glass of wine, delicious 4 course meal. Bundled back up we head to the base and the drive home. The food, service and all other components of the experience make this a one of a kind. You have to do this.
