This is a must stop for anyone visting the area. The history and architecture are amazing, right down to original flooring, hardware and fixtures. It is dusty and dark, but we had a lot of fun poking our noses into rooms, closets and corners. We are not the type that needs a guided tour and the volunteer on duty that day was happy to talk to us and answer questions when we were done. Keep in mind that this place is run by volunteers and depends on a non profit foundation, your entry fees and donations for restoration and repairs. This also means that often there is only one volunteer working on any given day and not able to provide guided tours. So enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, take a trip back in time and marvel at the opulence and beauty that was brought to help civilize a rough mining town.
