“One point for the cool building”
Reviewed March 14, 2014

Stopped by here on Tuesday en route from Taos to Vail. We've visited Leadville several times and this place looked cool as a authentic bar from back in the day. It was lunchtime so we popped in. Interior is interesting with loads of cool stuff to check out on the walls and behind the bar. It's quite a large building - bar is quite big and there's a larger dining area at the back.

The first disappointment is that there are no beers on draft - the server seemed surprised that we were surprised by this. My wife had a bottled beer and had a root beer(which came out frozen). We ordered some food and chilled for a bit. I had a bowl of Chili - it looked good but something seemed odd with the flavour. I eventually ate around half of it...something which I regretted later. My wife had a burger - which she said was good. The fries were very odd though - they looked great(golden brown, skins on and with salt and pepper) but tasted as of they'd been half cooked and then finished...except they were still not cooked. So, both stake tasting and hard.

We left fairly rapidly and arrived later at our hotel near Vail. I began feeling unwell and have had a very dodgy digestive system since then, have hardly eaten anything all week. It could've been a stray bug but the Chili just tasted wrong. This place is OK for a drink just be careful what you eat there.

One other thing; there's a cute French Bulldog/Pug who walks around the bar. We saw him walk upto one of the bar stalls and have a pee. We were pretty shocked.

“Lack of Service”
Reviewed March 8, 2014

The service was iffy and not very friendly, but the structure itself has a great deal of history which is worth a stop.

“Classic”
Reviewed February 26, 2014 via mobile

We always take friends here for a beer when we are in the area. There is a lot of history in this bar and you can feel it as soon as you walk in! I recommend checking all the pictures out on he walls, there are some interesting things. Also, the bar itself has a gorgeous mirror with intricate details. This is a classic old west saloon. I've never eaten here.

“Interesting bar, poor food.”
Reviewed February 20, 2014

Definitely a long standing establishment in Leadville. The bar has character and provides for some great history of the area. The food is poor, at best, and really is nothing to write home about. There are hamburgers, fried chicken, etc and being that the table and condiments are on the dirtier side the place doesn't give you a real good feeling for cleanliness. The bathrooms are not well kept and need some attention. We ate here in 2006 and I recall everything being a better then. We most likely will not be back.

“The oldest bar in town”
Reviewed January 6, 2014

It's rustic and old, but all of Leadville is historic and rustic. They have pool tables in the back. It didn't cost anything to play pool the night we were there. They have bar food if you are hungry.
