Well, there is not a lot of competition for quality food -- or any place to eat -- in Leadville, Co. It's a very, very ,very small place. A mile square. With less than 2000 residents. It's tiny. And wonderful. And high. And surrounded by gorgeous terrain. Mountains and sky. Sky.Sky! Sky! So by the time you get here, you are hungry. High Mountain Pies must have a reputation or the Trip Advisor Reviewers have given it one. The staff was friendly and nice. Not talkative, but nice. The pizza was scrumptious! Drinks served in cans. No ice. The place is TEENY TINY. Enough room for maybe 4-5 small tables. Back to Back. leg to leg. Shoulder to Shoulder. We were told it's too small to fit in an ice-machine. So, no ice. But the can was cold. And we were thirsty. The pizza was awesome. Did I say that already? They have all kinds of options. Plus you can build your own. Fresh veggies. Things like shrimp too. Fruit on pizza. Mmmmmmm. Yep. It's worth it to go there. Not to just eat pizza. But to see Leadville. And eat pizza while there. Leadville is the highest incorporated city in the United States. Over 10,000 feet above sea level. And the home of Mt. Elbert. It's a good place to strike off your bucket list. Check out the restroom. Cool walls.
