I chose this motel based on the reviews and on the location. I recommend it to others who want a clean motel and a good value. I guaranteed my room two weeks earlier and had no problems with check-in. The room was clean, the beds very comfortable. This appears to be an older property, but has been kept up very well. A complimentary breakfast was served in the motel dining room, and was the best of any motel on our trip. Everything from cold cereal, to oatmeal, to sausage and eggs. The staff were very friendly. The location is outside of Las Animas and is quiet. Note to birders: this is a great location, with lots of good birding locations within a short distance. I would stay here again.

We stayed here Labor Day weekend 2007. Wouldn't have been my first choice, but hotels in the town we were visiting were full. This best western ended up being a little better than I expected. It was quiet and clean. The maids were nice. We also got sit down breakfast of our choice (from a pre-determined list) of items--free of charge included in our stay.
The pool was small, but clean. There is not a lot of places to go in Las Animas or restaurants, so I would suggest bringing a cooler.

Stayed a Saturday night during a fishing trip to nearby John Martin Reservoir. I'll give it a 3/5 rating, but this would be a lower level two star property if on Priceline.com, certainly below the Hampton Inns and such. But considering the small town/remote area it's located in, certainly provided an acceptable stay for one night.

Only 38 rooms available on two floors. No elevator provided. My room had very good unit air conditioning, which was appreciated in this can-be-very-hot locale. Matress and pillows were not the most comfortable but, for a weary traveler, they were OK. My room was missing the pack of complimentary coffee, but was able to grab one in the morning from the housekeeping cart in the hallway. The iron also did not warm up, so had to call for a replacement, which apparently was brought from another vacated room, as they said they did not have any spares. The TV provided a surprisingly large number of cable TV channels.

The advertised free "full" breakfast provided was actually abit skimpy, with guests given the choice of one of four items on the menu. Or you can instead choose to apply a $3 credit toward the $5.95 cost of the limited (but appeared to be adequate) breakfast buffet. The service provided at breakfast was quite good, as you might expect considering the small town atmosphere.

The motel is located on Highway 50 just as you are coming into town from the east, or just after passing through from the west.

An older Best Western in the dusty town of Las Animas. It was just adequate for one night's stay. Staff was very cooperative and they throw in a relatviely full breakfast in the restaurant. By far the best overnight spot in Las Animas.
