Glad that you still have the hot waffles. Some of the LaQuintas have stopped having them. The hot breakfast is a real plus with me. Thank You!

This was our first stay at a LaQuinta Inn and it definitely exceeded our expectations.

My husband always stays at Marriott hotels when he travels for business, so we usually have enough Marriott rewards points to cover hotel stays on family vacations. We drive from Indiana to Utah every summer, and typically use up those free Marriott nights on the way there and back. When we added a dog to the family a few years ago, we discovered that the large majority of Marriotts have no pet policies (and if they do, they include a pet fee of $75+ per night). Two years ago, we actually went to great lengths to find boarding facilities for our dog near Marriott hotels on our route. (Since our rooms were free, it didn't seem like a big deal to pay $15-30 to board our dog nearby.) In theory, it worked, but the reality was it was incredibly inconvenient to have to make sure we arrived at the boarding facility before it closed, pay extra fees for early pickup, etc.

So, when we made our cross-country trek this summer, we decided to try staying in pet-friendly hotels for the added convenience of not having to drop off our dog somewhere else at night. Despite the LaQuinta chain being recommended by a family member, I was still skeptical--I'd become spoiled by all those clean, smoke-free Marriotts, and couldn't imagine how an establishment that regularly hosted animals would even begin to compare.

Lakewood LaQuinta proved me wrong. We arrived after a long day of driving to find a spacious room in pristine condition. The bathroom was the largest I've ever seen in a hotel. Linens were clean and smelled fresh. There was plenty of hot water. The beds were the most comfortable I've ever slept in. We did call down to the front desk for a few more towels and a rollaway bed, which were delivered almost as soon as we hung up the phone. In the morning, there was a delicious breakfast waiting for us in a large, sunlit lounge with plenty of seating and lots of menu options--pastries, eggs, waffles, cereals, fruit, toppings, etc. Overall, this hotel definitely met the standards we've come to enjoy from our frequent Marriott stays, and did so at a much more affordable price.

And how did our dog like this hotel? He was thrilled to stay with the family, that's for sure. There were a few small grassy areas right around the hotel where we could take him for potty breaks. I was pleasantly surprised to note that--despite seeing other pets out and about--there were no visible signs of pet waste. The fantastic thing about this hotel for pets is it's location: cross the rear parking lot and head over to the streetside sidewalk, and you'll find yourself in a business/research park. Walk uphill on the sidewalk less than a block to find park-like grounds surrounding office buildings, complete with trails, streams, benches, and picnic tables. It was a wonderful, safe, and quiet area to take our dog for an early morning jog/walk before another long day of driving. The grounds were large enough and far enough from busy streets that I could let him off his leash for some squirrel chasing, sniffing, and uninhibited running.

In short, we were all so pleased with our stay that we've already booked nights here for next year's cross country trip!

In a limited service hotel there's not much you can do to stand out from the crowd other than do the basics well and show great hospitality (so don't expect great variety from the breakfast at this price range). I've stayed at this property several times over the past 3 or 4 years and I have always found it to be clean and well-managed. Best of all, the staff has not changed much over this time and it helps when you have experienced people looking after the place - and they are always friendly, helpful and efficient. The in-room TV system has been upgraded recently which is also a plus.

We stayed at this SW Denver area hotel for just one night and were very pleased. We use them a lot and this hotel is well above the average for a LQ hotel. It looks relatively new inside and out, rooms are large with nice bathrooms, and the main registration and breakfast areas are light and airy. It feels comfortable throughout. The hotel is handy for activities on the SW side of town, but not really for the city center. There is shopping nearby and plenty of restaurants, and the locaiton is great for a getaway to the mountains.

Room Tip: Ask for a southside room, away from the freeway.

Stayed six nights at this hotel while visiting family. It is fairly new. The lobby is clean, the rooms are nice with a flat screen tv. The continental breakfast is okay but gets old after a couple of days. Now with the negatives: While at breakfast every morning I watched the lady who is in charge of the food change the barrels with her bare hands and then proceed to touch the food on the counter. She would use both hands to push down a full barrel with no gloves on and never washed her hands!! that was gross! Then she would start removing the breakfast 5 minutes before the scheduled time, so if you are running late you can forget about eating!! The ladies at the check in were okay but not as friendly as other reviews stated. Please don't take this the wrong way but if you do not care for dogs please stay somewhere else. This hotel is like a dog kennel...That may be fine for dog lovers but what about those of us who are allergic to dogs or who don't like dogs? For the price per night it was a good value but next time I will look elsewhere. Also, ask for a room on the side opposite of the highway. If you are a light sleeper this could be bothersome...

Room Tip: do not stay on the "highway side"

My husband and I stayed for 6 nights at this hotel, located near Denver and Lakewood, while we were visiting family. We wanted a clean, comfortable and low-cost hotel, but had never stayed at a La Quinta before. We were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of our room. We had an executive king room with a very comfortable bed. The room was huge, with a sofa, flat screen television and a very large bathroom. The room was very clean and modern -- the air conditioning worked great. The property even had a pool and a fitness room with modern equipment. The complimentary breakfasts, although basic, were perfectly fine. If pressed for criticisms, we'd have only minor ones -- the carpets in some common areas are coming up and potentially a trip hazard; the walls in between rooms are very thin. We had extremely loud neighbours and could hear them chatting to each other at 6 am every morning. However, overall the location of this hotel is great, there is ample parking and we felt it was excellent value for money. We'd definitely consider staying in a La Quinta again.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the elevators or common areas -- and avoid adjoining rooms if you can as they a...
