We enjoyed two nights at the Inn at the Lake in Lake City. The hosts are so attentive. The rooms are spotless. Breakfasts delicious and plentiful. We enjoyed meeting the staff and visiting with them. As other reviews state, by the time you leave you do feel as if you are life time friends of David and Rosie Whitelock. Our visit was most memorable and we look forward to returning.
The area is beautiful Lake San Cristobal is deep blue. We watched a bull moose foraging in the greens. We took our ATV's on the Alpine Loop with a diversion to Silverton. A ranger at Animas Forks, "JJ" told us the road was opened as a trial for ATVSs for the days we were there. Silverton is an nice town with great shops and restaurants.

Room Tip: corner rooms have good ventilation

The Inn was highly recommended to us a few years ago, as a beautiful place to rest & be refreshed. On our first trip in 2012 we were greeted on the front porch by David as if we were life-long friends that had been missed. We couldn't have imagined that our time at the Inn would be so special or make us feel so welcomed. After spending a week at the Inn this past July we didn't want to wait until next year to return - we just booked a Fall weekend retreat. We cannot truly express our experience but encourage you to go & see what is store for you as you spend time at the Inn. "Come away with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest." Room Tip: There isn't a bad room! Although there is no fitness center at the Inn - you have an abundance of gorgeous trails & mountains to get your fitness on!

I've never had hosts like David and Rosie! After the first visit to the inn, I knew we would come back year after year. They have the unique ability to make the guests feel that it's not just a stay in their lodge, but a visit to their home. The food is wonderful, the guests actually get to know each other, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming any time of the day or night. We played dominoes, laughed a lot, and left feeling like we were leaving family. Wonderful place to stay for a night or for a week! I never get tired of the view of the lake and mountains.

Room Tip: The corner rooms have a great view of the mountains and lake.

I've been traveling to CO every summer for nearly 15yrs. In all that time, I've never found anything remotely comparable to The Inn at the Lake. The setting (Lake City, Lake San Cristobal) can soothe your soul, but the B&B will resurrect it. The best front porch, the best breakfasts, and by far the best hosts. You'll never forget your stay, and will pine for your next chance to visit! Super clean and cozy rooms. Amazingly affordable rates. Just go.

Traveling on a vacation we stumbled upon this B&B. We were welcomed the moment you arrive. David and Rosie were not there but one of the volunteers was there with open arms. Once David and Rosie arrived they greeted us and welcomed us to their summer home as if we were family.

The views are wonderful at this location. It is definately off the beaten path but the silence is great as well as refreshing. At night, if the weather is right they have a campfire where everyone can make smores. Make sure that you are hungry for breakfast as there is more than enough to eat. This is definately a unique experience and one that we will definately take in again when in the area.
