Snow tubing at Keystone has 4 lanes and they are all steep. No green runs, just very steep blue's to blacks. No curves, straight down. My teens liked it, but I would have preferred a slower option. I almost did not go after seeing the steepness of the tubing hill, but after the long walk from the parking lot to the gondola and then another short walk to the tubing hill from the gondola I went down the easiest one two times.
The lift up is long and steep, there is nothing to hold on to as you step on, ride up or step off. You place your tube on the lift in front of you and then step on to the carpet lift. I was concerned about falling backward. Great for calf stretching. It is nicely covered which helped to protect us from the wind and snow.
We tubed for an hour and both teens were ready to stop. Both of my teens thought it took to long to ride up for a quick ride down.
There is a long walk from the parking lot to the gondola that takes you up to the top of the mountain, then the snow tubing area is another 3-5 min walk.
Tubing is $31.00 per hour, which includes the Gondola ride to the top of the mountain. No discount if you already have a lift ticket for the gondola. Parents that want to observe pay $24.00.
The staff were friendly. The staff were very helpful in assisting us to arrange our tubes to go down the hill together. Four tubes.
We have been tubing in Steamboat on a smaller hill which provided a longer ride with curves in the lanes and had much more fun overall.
