“Snow tubing at Keystone, steep hill and lift.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2012

Snow tubing at Keystone has 4 lanes and they are all steep. No green runs, just very steep blue's to blacks. No curves, straight down. My teens liked it, but I would have preferred a slower option. I almost did not go after seeing the steepness of the tubing hill, but after the long walk from the parking lot to the gondola and then another short walk to the tubing hill from the gondola I went down the easiest one two times.
The lift up is long and steep, there is nothing to hold on to as you step on, ride up or step off. You place your tube on the lift in front of you and then step on to the carpet lift. I was concerned about falling backward. Great for calf stretching. It is nicely covered which helped to protect us from the wind and snow.
We tubed for an hour and both teens were ready to stop. Both of my teens thought it took to long to ride up for a quick ride down.
There is a long walk from the parking lot to the gondola that takes you up to the top of the mountain, then the snow tubing area is another 3-5 min walk.
Tubing is $31.00 per hour, which includes the Gondola ride to the top of the mountain. No discount if you already have a lift ticket for the gondola. Parents that want to observe pay $24.00.
The staff were friendly. The staff were very helpful in assisting us to arrange our tubes to go down the hill together. Four tubes.
We have been tubing in Steamboat on a smaller hill which provided a longer ride with curves in the lanes and had much more fun overall.

“Great Ski School For Kids”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2012

It was our first trip bringing our 9 y/o son out from NJ. We went to A-Basin first and got him a private lesson but other than a very good instructor (Amy Acerman), it's more for locals. Keystone has a large variety of runs and they all have some good distance to them. The training run is 3.5 miles long. Our son spent his first day with Mike & Mark on day one and they all had a great time. On day 2 he spent it with Brian and again had a super time. The all day lesson kept him busy from 9:30 to 3:30 and includes lunch at the Summit house. (For the rest of us, bring lots of money because a bottle water is 3.75 and things just go up from there.) A few pointers, there's lots of walking...right next to the kids ski school there is a 15 minute drop off lot but do yourself a favor and rent a ski locker for 5.00 a day if you're staying more than 1 day. We had a great vacation and will visit Keystone. The kids ski program is well thought out.. ***Sidenote***Our son has food allergies and each day we sent his lunch up with and they made sure everything went well. Hat's off to the Keystone staff and management.

“We loved the restaurant at the top of the mountain.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2012

It was beautiful and so relaxing. Built from huge logs with a cathedral ceiling, it was like being in a magical place. We had a very relaxing afternoon by the fireplace looking out at the mountains while the kids skied.

“World class skiing with friendly and professional resort staff”

Be sure to try the fun inner-tube sledding on your rest day or day-off. River Run Gondola will keep you nice and warm during your all day skiing experience. The night skiing is the best.
