I really enjoyed this place. Cute little "cottage looking" place. Small, not many rooms, but that made it kind of nice, not a ton of cars in and out, quiet, peaceful. Close enough to downtown, but far enough that you don't get the people, traffic, etc. Clean rooms. Comfy beds. Nicely decorated, bright and colorful! Nice bathroom. Mini fridge and microwave was a plus. Decent price. Will definitely stay here again.

Stayed two nights here in Idaho Springs where the choice of hotels is quite limited. We wanted to explore this old mining area and take a trip on the Georgetown loop railroad nearby. Our room (No. 6) was reached by walking past some rather long overgrown (wet at the time) grass and weeds which obstructed the pathway. However the room itself was tastefully decorated in rich colours with an abundance of attractive wall pictures. There was a separate kitchen area with a hob and cooking facilities but no kitchen utensils! Not much good to us Europeans who can't carry pots and cutlery etc around with us in our luggage! We didn't have breakfast provided either so if we had cooking utensils and delph........! The WIFI wasn't good and I had to stand beside the Reception area near the busy road to get the WIFI. We had prepaid our room so, apart from getting the key and being told to post it through the letter box when we were leaving we had no contact with the owners....a bit impersonal and isolating I think. This motel is fine for a short stay and as there is not much to choose from in the town it met our requirements. There are a few cafes in Idaho Springs which do serve a good breakfast so that proved to be convenient but did add about $20 per night to our expenses.

Room Tip: Choose a room to the back of the motel away from traffic noise.

We do realize that most travelers, regardless of their original location, do not carry pots in their luggage.

For this reason, pots & pans; utensils; dishes;cleaning supplies; the stove (needs to be turned on); are all provided to our guests for a $50 returnable deposit. Microwave, refrigerator, coffee/tea maker and the kitchen sink are included.

Travelers... all you need to do is ask at the front desk.
It is now necessary to post these directions in each room.

We also have a fantastic Visitor's Center in Idaho Springs that can direct you to a multitude of events and activities in our wonderful historic mining town. People travel from Europe and other continents just to take the drive up to Mt. Evans!

Thank you for your review .

My husband, 2 girl friends and I booked their little 2 bedroom cottage for the night before we did the Georgetown to Idaho Springs Half Marathon. When we arrived it took a minute to find the office. When we went in we rang the bell. The gentleman that came to assist us was very nice. He told me that the cottage was out of order and instead they put us into 2 rooms for no extra charge; surprisingly we didn't have to even fill out a registration form or sign anything. My husband and I had a quaint room with a king size bed and a kitchenette. My girl friends were in a room with 2 queen beds and lots of room. Both rooms were very nicely decorated and pleasant to stay in. While it is an older establishment, it is very nice with a deck that has a nice picnic table and bbq. A plus is it's within a block and a half of a grocery store. We would definitely stay here again.

We returned to Idaho Springs for the second time this year. We hiked Gray's Peak during our stay (it is around 45 minutes to the trailhead from the Inn). We stayed in a King Suite, which was very spacious. The bed was huge and insanely comfortable. The bedding was like heaven. There is air conditioning in the room as well as a small kitchen area. The bathroom was huge and wheelchair accessible. The shower head did not work so we ended up just using it as a bath. This was a great place to stay, and I wish we could've stayed longer.

So pleased that you had a nice stay and hope that you can return for a third time! When you do return, ask me about the "shower head", which by the way, does work . It pulls down from the bottom instead of the top as a child proof anti-scalding feature.

What a gem! Columbine Inn is close to downtown and the grocery store, and, best of all, it offers a clean, comfortable room at an excellent price. Built before cookie-cutter motel chains, Columbine charms with its foliage (trees abound and an ivy grew right up to our door) and eclectic art in the rooms--some French Impressionism, some Old West, something for everyone. The beds and fixtures are substantial and well maintained. While we didn't use them, we appreciated the iron and ironing board, microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. One minor criticism is that the Wi-Fi signal was too weak to use at our room (in the corner furthest from the office), yet the friendly owner let me sit in the office to use the internet, and the next morning, I enjoyed a glorious Colorado morning sitting on the porch checking e-mail. If you want a McRoom, then stay at a chain motel. If you want comfort and personality at a reasonable price, then check into Columbine.

Came to Sam's place because of Tripadvisor and we enjoyed our stay. The room was nice and very clean and we enjoyed having a small kitchenette for meals. Our friend came to visit and dropped her car in a hole the city had dug in the parking lot. Sam graciously arranged for a tow truck to pull her out and for that we were most appreciative!

We had to go out on the adjacent porch to get a internet signal but that was nice because we had good weather. Once that challenge is conquered, this place goes to top rating for the price.

Room Tip: Rooms four, five and six are real nice

Thank you for your review and sorry for the mishap. Wanted to let you know that our internet signal is currently strong in all the rooms since we have had it re-wired with a new company.

We decided to stay overnight after a day of hiking in the mountains and a planned rafting trip in the morning. We called at the last minute to book a stay for a Saturday night. We got lucky thanks to a cancellation and booked one suite with a private hot tub. This is well worth the extra $$ to enjoy this privacy. We had a lovely sitting room with flat screen tv, kitchen complete with dishware/utentils and a comfortable bed in the bedroom. The room was outfitted with an air conditioner too, which can't get much use because it is so beautifully cool in the mountains at night in summer. Everything was clean and well maintained despite its older unique appearance. The owners were very accommodating and helpful with locations to eat (always hit up BeauJos for the best pizza and for breakfast we went to Jiggie's Cafe for a great homecooked breakfast). We had a great night's sleep and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, which went from a very functional just get a room to stay in overnight to finding a romantic gem where we'd go again just to get away.

Room Tip: Ask for the private suite and spend the extra $$. Worth the money to spread out and have nice priva...
