We tried the Colorado-style Pizza (Mountain Pies) at Beau Jo's on the recommendation of a local and a well-known travel guide. The Mountain-style pizza has a thick folded crust and although we were initially apprehensive about it (we generally tend toward thin-crust back home), we really liked it! The crust is crispy on the outside & chewy on the inside. The pizza comes with a bottle of honey that you're meant to eat the crust with and we were surprised to find that it's actually quite good that way, almost like a warm bit of crispy, chewy pretzel with honey for dessert. We got the Yukon but asked for no bacon (my husband's vegetarian) and with mushroom on one half, and black olives on the other. It was really quite tasty. There's lots of nice sauce but the crust holds up to it so we didn't find it at all soggy. We were also surprised when our waiter candidly admitted that the kitchen had initially cooked our pizza without the additions we asked for, so he gave us the first pizza to take home, on the house. We thought that was quite honest & nice of them, as we had no clue that anything amiss had even happened. Our waiter was very friendly, helpful & attentive. Despite being clearly very busy, he was quick on his feet & very professional. The place was packed with people and is located right on the main street and very close to the waterfall waterwheel. Try it if you're in the area!

Too much grease/oil, cold. Husband had pizza and I had chicken wings and stuffed mushrooms. Center of pizza was cold and greasy. Mushrooms were cold. Wings were warm. Waited a long time for service.

Went with the gluten free pizza. I have had great pizza at Beau Jo's buthad the gluten free crust because I was with a gluten intolerant friend. The crust was well done, almost burned in a couple of spots. The crust was very thin, so they must have let it stay in the oven just a minute too long. The toppings were good and fresh. Next time, I'll stick with the standard pie crust-it's always good!

This place isn't so much about the pizza as it is a place to round out your Colorado experience. You won't be the only one who spent the day skiing, got jammed on I-70 on the way home and stopped off in Idaho Springs for something, anything to eat because you're STARVING. Dress code - ski bibs.

Pizza is slightly above average, won't compete for anyone who's serious about NY or Chicago style. We stop here because we're hungry and it's a relaxing place to sit with the kids and talk about our day on the hill. Skip the "kids" pizza - it's not a smaller version of their regular pie but a frozen mini pizza like the kids menu at Chili's.

Would agree that the nostalgia of this place allows most of us to overlook the sticky tables. Expect a wait if you don't time it right. Other Denver locations don't have the "charm" of the Idaho Springs location.

They are known for the pizza and it is good! Easy stop along I70, and good now with the big twin tunnel construction detour right nearby. Casual dining venue with good service. Location is easy to get to off the freeway. Lots of cute shops nearby.
