My wife and I stayed at the Canyon Motel as a getaway for her birthday. This was our first time in Hot Sulphur Springs, and when we arrived in town, the town was a bit smaller than expected. The motel definitely looks like a motel from the outside, but our doubt's about the quality were abaited when we went in the lobby and our room! The staff was incredibly friendly and so eager to make our stay great. We arrived in the evening, and there were barking dogs on the property next door, which was a bit difficult to deal with, so we went to the Sulphur Spa. The Motel is awesome because they hook you up with free towels ($2 at the spa) and a discount on entry. When we came back to the motel, the dogs had stopped barking. Trish was working the counter through our visit and was so great- he hooked us up with a couple sodas so we didn't have to drive to Granby (the shell station in town was closed as of 9:45pm). She also said she would keep an ear out for the barking dogs, but that wasn't an issue. Just a heads up for those sensitive to sound, there are freight trains which run through town (I love the sound of them personally) and the motel is right on Hwy 40. You can hear other guests if you have windows open but the walls are insulative. The trains and traffic can't be helped by the hotel, so not even a complaint as much as an alert to those looking for quiet and seclusion. The value was great- discounted spa admission down the road and discounts at the local restaurants for staying at the Canyon Motel are fabulous.

All in all an amazing stay. Hot Sulphur Springs is definitely not a ritzy place, it's a very small mountain town but everywhere we went the residents working were honest and eager to help make the stay great!

Skip expensive Grand Lake if traveling West and stay here! The desk staff was very friendly, the rooms are small but very clean and comfortable, and the peace and quiet made for a perfect nights stay. What The Canyon Motel lacks in unnecessary amenities, it makes up for in class and quiet comfort. We would certainly stay here again!

Room Tip: Room 2 was great!

It's impossible not to like this small, independent motel in tiny Hot Sulfur Springs. We went for their cheapest room (62) and it is a bit small for 2 adults -- it might be a good idea to spring for a few more bucks for a larger room. But even our tiny room was clean and functional, and the owner is extremely friendly and helpful. He'll sell you tickets to the nearby and somewhat overpriced hot springs for a couple bucks off and, if you're in town, you probably should go for a soak. The vibe of both the motel and town is very laid back, and that's nice because some of the nearby towns can be quite busy and touristy. We would definitely return if we were in the area -- less than 10 minutes from Granby.

This is an excellent small motel, highly recommended. Very clean, spacious rooms, great beds, frig, coffee maker and microwave. There are some tables and chairs outside the rooms, and view behind the motel is beautiful. Wireless is free and works great. Stay here if you come through Hot Sulphur Springs!

We stopped on our travels through the area and requested adjoining rooms, but they were booked. Rob, the owner, said he had a 3 BR unit that was available and it was the lower level but it had vehicle access behind the building.
This room was awesome! It had its own little deck on the back with chairs, full size refrigerator, stove and coffee maker. 2 televisions (one in the larger bedroom and one in the living room) and 2 full size bathrooms. This room was more like an apartment! If you are traveling through or staying in the area make sure you stay at this motel.
Also included were discounts to local restaurants.

I stayed here on business for the second time in less than a year and although the rooms (& bathrooms) are on the small side, the big hotel chains could take a lesson from this motel's level of cleanliness. Not a single speck of dust, fingerprint smudge, coffee ring stains, dirt, hairs, etc. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Room Tip: Room 11 has a kitchenette, which is nice if staying many nights.
