Once you figure out where the entrance is you will find a smiling face to take you to your table. My wife had one of the dinner specials cited by our wait person and was very pleased. I opted to try combining the roasted beet salad with a steak from the lighter fare section of the menu. Presentation and taste were both above average and reasonably priced. We loved the ability to carry on a normal conversation without the noise found in many eateries. This is not to say the place was not busy. It is popular for its food as well as its mountain ambiance.

This place has been here awhile always in a state of evolution. It has always been good but now it's great everything the menu is the star with lots of great options including pizza. Don't let that put you off. The service is friendly and spot on of what I at least expect in fine dining. The decor is pleasant with lots of space between tables. Wine list, check. Wine Spectator something or other. Doesn't matter. Lots of price points. The evening we went the scallops & lamb chops were over the top good as were the sides that accompanied our entrees. Plates were served hot from the kitchen which tells me these folks know what they are doing. Deserts a plenty & plenty good. This place has evolved into arguably the best restaurant in Durango. Sure it takes a few minutes to drive from town, but it's pleasant enough. Really glad we went going back is a no brainer. Make a reservation.

I have to agree with all the positive reviews and especially appreciated the rather curious menu. Skip the entrees and stick to the 'Lighter plates' on the top of the second page. Who could possibly want better food or more generous portions? And for such high quality, remarkable prices in the mid-teens for these delicious plates. Half-price wine night was an extra bonus. Sad reality for the complainers: almost all US restaurants struggle when they have large private parties so relax, enjoy the company the setting and the food--all world-class.

My wife wanted to celebrate her birthday at this cafe. It was mountain elegant. The food was very good and the service was great. I would remind people that deserts are meant to be shared!

Great food. Great service. Even better atmosphere. It is worth the 45 minute drive from farmington. It is a favorite place to stop on the way back from a trip to la plata canyon.
