We spent 3 nights at Cherry Creek Mountain Ranch, using it as a base for exploring this area of Colorado. It is isolated, several miles down a gravel road, and the cabin sits on a hill above the owner's residence. The cabin is new. It has a large open kitchen, dining, and living area, a bedroom downstairs and a loft upstairs with 3 single beds. There is one bathroom and a laundry area. There is also a renovated school house on the property which would be perfect for a couple.
The property is about 45 minutes to Durango, 20 minutes to the town of Mancos (fantastic bakery!) and 45 minutes to Mesa Verde.
Amber and her husband, Tim, are wonderful hosts. Amber gave us lots of suggestions for places to go and events happening in the area. She graciously showed us the horses and gave us a tour of the property. There are friendly dogs just waiting to be petted and a cat sleeping in a tree.
The road the ranch is on is perfect for walking or riding a bicycle.
There is also a wood heated sauna by the cabin, which was so relaxing after a day exploring Mesa Verde.
I loved it, and highly recommend it for families with yound children or teens.
