“Almost but not quite”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 24, 2013

We had dinner with friends on Saturday, 23 February, our first visit to this very busy and popular restaurant. Three of us had scallops with black pudding as a starter - excellent. The fourth had goats cheese - lovely. For main courses two had pheasant - very good, one had duck - very good and the fourth had salmon with risotto and whilst the salmon was excellent, found the risotto quite unlike any risotto she had had before and not very good.
Desserts were good and with pre-dinner drinks and a bottle of wine the bill came to £141 which was very reasonable.
Service was good and the staff were friendly. Would have rated excellent but for the risotto.

My boyfriend booked the timble inn as a surprise for my birthday. We rented the apartment room for two nights. The room was spotless and furnishings were lovely. We also had dinner in the restaurant on both nights, food was outstanding! There was no rush whilst eating and the restaurant has a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The owners and staff at the timble inn were brilliant and made us feel very welcome. We had a really relaxing weekend away and would definitely recommend timble inn to everyone and we will definitely be returning ourselves. Thank you!

We booked the Timble Inn after a short search online, for a good quality hotel, for a short break to celebrate a birthday/anniversary. How glad were we that we found The Timble! Fabulous room, beautifully decorated and luxurious, attentive staff and the food was delicious. Ideal place for a quiet get away for 2 nights. Will we return................................YES!!!!

We booked a night at quite short notice and as our dinner booking wasn't until late we were offered a discount on our room. The room itself was beautifully furnished and very clean. Our only difficulty (and purely a personal one) was that the bed mattress was a bit too soft and so getting comfy was a bit tricky to start with although we both did drop off eventually! The food was absolutely fantastic, service polite and efficient, portions perfect size and everything very tasty. We will definitely be returning and would stay again too (perhaps a different bed in a different room would suit our tricky backs better!) and will recommend to others.

We booked the Timble Inn after friend recommendations and where not let down in any way. The staff were attentive and polite and the room (no 5.) was spacious and well presented. The bed was delightful and made sure for a good nights sleep. The food was also very good (bar a split hollandaise sauce). The setting is perfect for a peaceful, rural location within easy reach of Harrogate. Turn right out of the front door and walk down the single road and you will come to Fewston and Swinsty resevoirs which offer very good circular walks on easy access pathways.

Booked The Timble Inn as a stopover for one night on a trip to Yorkshire for a family gathering. We were highly delighted with the rural location - in a very pretty hamlet reached by narrow country lanes - also with the warm welcome and lovely decor.
Our room was overlooking the front with wonderful views of the countryside beyond, it had all the little touches not usually found in a small country Inn. Bathroom/wetroom had luxury toiletries and a large shower - one small point, the basin taps made a rather loud banging noise when turned on! The bed/pillows were the most comfortable we have ever slept on, again well above the norm.
The food was exceptional, the best lamb I've tasted in a long time and was presented with flair and imagination.
We would love to return for a couple of nights to explore this beautiful area and be spoilt yet again by this delightful Inn.

I booked The Timble Inn to stay for Christmas, having heard so many excellent reviews, I was really looking forward to our stay.
I always like to start with the positives....
Ellie, member of staff, excellent customer service, very friendly & a real credit to the Timble Inn.
Room, lovely furnishings with a very comfortable bed.
Restaurant, beautifully decorated with festive trimmings although very cold.
Negatives... We met the other residents in the lounge located in a small house next to the Inn for afternoon tea and also a glass of champagne before dinner, it just lacked any atmosphere and this theme was to continue throughout our stay.
The food on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day was just average, special mention for the overcooked solid cheese souffle. overall it was very bland and for £85.00 per head, I expected a little more for my Christmas Day meal.
We arranged to eat at 6.15pm on Christmas Day, at the end of our meal the owners and another resident brought their dogs in to the restaurant at 9.30pm, we didn't object but took it as a hint that our meal was over and we went back to our room to watch tv!
We just felt like the focus of the owners of Timble Inn was entirely on the number of covers they could serve in the two sittings on Christmas Day, this opinion was echoed by a member of staff.
Overall our stay lacked any warmth or atmosphere and the food was extremely disappointing.
The total cost of our bill was just under £1000 for two nights, it was just not good enough !
