“Most relaxing week ever!”
Reviewed June 20, 2011

Took our 12 yo granddaughter for a week and none of us wanted to leave. It's a beautiful setting and our cabin (Forest) was exactly perfect for us. Great mattresses, peaceful, excellent bathrooms, etc. The staff and the activities really make TRR special. The staffers are bright, they're courteous and helpful and they really become part of the week's fun. Activities are plentiful or not -- depending on each guest's interests.
And -- their website does not lie!!

We went to Tumbling River Dude Ranch with our 6 year old daughter. It was the BEST family vacation we have been on. When we arrived at the ranch we were taken to our cabin with the magestic Rocky Mountains as the background. This was the first time we had been to Colorado and were amazed at the natural beauty surrounding us.

Our mornings began by a staff member bringing hot coffee to the cabin before heading up to the lodge for breakfast. The meals were delicious and desserts/breads are all homemade. Afterwards we made choices about which activities we were going to participate in for the day. Sometimes we did them as a family and other times we chose separate activities. The kid's camp was amazing. Our daughter went on horseback rides wtih the kids club at least a couple of times a day. They went swimming in the heated pool, learned to fish, arts and crafts, games, picnics, and hikes. The staff for the kids club were energetic and had a blast with all of the kids. My husband enjoyed long rides up into the mountains each day and I enjoyed the nature hikes, the shooting range (my first time and surprisingly enjoyed it thouroughly) and a massage later in the week. We really enjoyed the barbeque cookout outdoors one evening that included a hay ride and spectacular views. This eveinng was topped off with a bonfire, roasting marshmallows, and old time camping songs. Another favorite evening was the square dance. Decked out in cowboy hats and boots, the guests were all smiles. The absolute highlight was the rodeo. The last day the adults and kids got to show off their new riding skills by participating in various contests. Ribbons were won, games were played, and the rodeo clown made a couple of appearances as well. This was truly, a great vacation and we would recommend Tumbling River Ranch to anyone we know. The staff was enthusiastic and very helpful. We did not want the vacation to end and recently booked a second vacation for 2012.

The website for tumbling river ranch does not do it justice. The setting is sooo much prettier than you can imagine on the internet. Food was awesome, lodging was rustic and comfortable. Loved the trail rides and activities. Our children were 12, 10 and 6. Fun was had by all. The staff was super friendly and accomodating. Our neighbors had gone in the 1990's and recommended it. Glad to see that things are still great in the year 2010!

Tumbling River Ranch offered us the best of Colorado. It is nestled in the Rockies surrounded by large cliffs of granite and red rock. The ranch is hidden in a forest of pine and aspen. A river runs through it and there are 2 very well stocked ponds for fishing.

The first day we arrived we were greeted by the owner, Scott and his staff who promptly showed us to our oversized ranch style room.

The room featured a large wood burning fireplace and very comfortable bed. A blazing fire crackled each night when we retired. We also spent quite a bit of time relaxing on the covered porch in front of our room.

Each day we took a long horseback ride. A quick lesson was given the first day to help people like me that don’t really know how to ride. The quarter horses were very responsive…not like your typical trail horse. Each horse was chosen to match the rider and we rode the same horse for our 4 day stay.

The trails traversed through some of the most scenic areas in Colorado, above and below tree line, along streams and through groves of aspen.

Meals were also wonderful. The quality was excellent and all you could eat.

The staff waited on us hand and foot. It was obvious they wanted us to have a great time. They all quickly learned our names and politely greeted us each time our paths crossed.

We live in Denver and are spoiled by the mountains in our backyard. It took about an hour to get to the ranch, but we mite as well have been in Montana. The visitors from out of state were overwhelmed by the scenery. On one trail ride, I told my wife the only other way to see this type of view was on a ski lift.

As you can tell, I would highly recommend the Tumbling River Ranch.

A must vacation spot if you have kids! If the fabulous horseback riding, amazing staff and host, and delicious meals does not wow you, the outstanding children program will keep you happy all week. The children activities are well thought out, organized, engaging and full of "all day fun". It gives the parents the opportunity for a real vacation!

This ranch gives you everything you could want and more. Amazing scenery, impressive food and a wonderful staff. The cabins are very nice with great linens, front porch, fireplaces, etc. Activities cater to every age. Our 8 year old got to ride horses and hang out with other kids her age while the adults hit the trail for their own adventure. (But, plenty to do all together too!) The staff truly goes the extra mile. The food was gourmet. We had a hard time deciding our favorites. Can't wait to go back next summer.
