“Quiet, comfortable spot in a great town”
Reviewed July 20, 2014

We had a great night's stay at the Terrace Inn, absolutely stellar dinner there of buffalo meatloaf and maui maui. Very smooth Grand Lake Woolyburger dark beer. All rooms are on the upper level at the top of some pretty steep stairs, but comfortable and clean. Parking is limited because the inn is directly across the street from the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theater, which packs them in, but it's only a couple of blocks from the park and center part of town. Grand Lake is a nice town!

“Great food - open year round - a rarity”
Reviewed July 1, 2014

We dined here for the 1st time after reading the Trip Advisor reviews. We've spent time in Grand Lake for almost 10 years and never stopped by as the front door / sign is a little inconspicuous and it's not really near the regular places we go.

There are only 10 tables inside the the menu seemed ambitious for such a small place. I always a little leery of a restaurant that has a large menu with a small space. But The Terrace Inn obviously has figured out the balance of a varied menu and their ability to produce quality food in a timely manner. Service was prompt and helpful. Food was delivered quickly, really, really hot and prepared perfectly.

Soup of the day was Carrot Ginger. Very hot, tasty and light. Good ginger spice. I had the Cedar Plank Salmon. It was deliciously smoky, pared with a light cucumber salsa. It was a perfect medium-rare. My husband had the mahi-mahi. He commented it seems Mahi Mahi is often overcooked. Not this time.

Wine was fairly priced. Desserts were offered for a reasonable price. (We had the Chocolate Pudding, it was obviously homemade and pretty good.)

We're glad to find a restaurant in Grand Lake that's open year round (limited days/hours in the winter) and serves great food. Although this was only our first visit, I look forward to visiting again to have other menu items.

If you're in Grand Lake, don't pass it by due to the upscale menu offerings (especially for Grand Lake). There aren't many good restaurants and I hope ones like The Terrace Inn continue to prosper.

“A tiny little big treat!”
Reviewed June 7, 2014

We've been in Grand Lake annually for fifteen years and never until now did we actually try the Terrace Inn. Big mistake, to wait that long. It is a pretty little place near one end of the main street, but it looked too exclusive and pricey, we thought. This year we finally did go in—and the food and atmosphere took us by surprise. It is a tiny place, with only a few tables, and is intimate and friendly, as a result. The hostess is conversational and the atmosphere is casual. The food was nothing short of wonderful. I tried coconut-crisped tilapia on an exotic spinach salad and was wowed by the size of the meal, its colorful beauty in presentation, and its delicious combination of unexpected ingredients. People who noticed the restaurant was closed last year should take another look now that it's open. Small but a treasure, it deserves a visit.

“One of our favorite restaurants in Grand Lake”
Reviewed April 3, 2014

My wife and I always have at least one breakfast or dinner at the Terrace Inn when we visit Grand Lake each year. In 2013 the ownership changed, but we had dinner there and very much enjoyed it (they managed to retain the same chef). The Terrace Inn is on the pricier side, but well worth a nice meal. They will often have some specials (e.g., Elk medallions). Although we have seen children there this establishment is geared more toward adults looking for a quieter, intimate setting. There are about 10 tables and if you want to go there for dinner in the summer or around holidays we would definitely recommend reservations. The Terrace Inn also has accommodations still I believe. Take advantage of the off-season specials (staying there).

“My taste buds are still dancing!”

Stayed here for two nights and every meal was fantastic! They serve REAL breakfast to guests. This not one of those B&Bs where you come down in the morning and get oatmeal, cereal and some microwaved sausage. You start the day with a great freshly prepared breakfast and end it with a great evening meal!
