Besides an extremely UNwelcoming owner, and NOT open for breakfast, they are only minimally open for lunch because they only have ONE server available. Dinner is on the pricey side. Don't ask them to set up for a group.

The setting & view is beautiful. We chose this lunch spot because of the location and what seemed to be a "gourmet" menu offering. Sadly, the food was average at best. That said, the burger was good and the only item worth ordering. In addition, we were told that the Kids' menu choices (not listed on the actual menu) consisted of a burger, hot dog or Mac and cheese. To our surprise, full-sized meals appeared at $9.99 a piece! That seemed crazy.. I would not recommend this place to feed kids. Overall, a disappointing meal, given the food and a very slow service.

Lovely old log-cabin-feel restaurant with a beautiful, peaceful view of the Tonahutu River in Grand Lake. For lunch or drinks you can sit outside right next to the river. Reservations are best for dinner, tho window seats are first-come-first-served unless you go for the first seatings. Prices are high & food is good ~ with interesting sauce combinations ~ but we felt it could have been better. My rib-eye was a bit charred, with as much fat as meat; elk medallions were over-cooked; mashed potatoes were dry; soup was boring (usually their soups are great). Salad, shrimp cocktail (3 shrimp), green beans, bread with dipping sauce were very good. The desserts (especially for $7 each) were really bad: the "bread pudding" was a couple slices of dry, mealy sweet-bread with what tasted like canned sauce; the chocolate cake was also very dry. Service was ok; our waiter seemed nervous & rushed. All in all, a good-not-awesome experience; the Rapids met but certainly didn't exceed our expectations.

Such an enjoyable evening! Loved the menu with unusual dressing and sauce combinations that were delicious, as well as the small plates and entrees. But the star was their black bean soup - best I have ever had! Don't miss eating here for dinner, and make sure to ask for a river view when you make your reservations!
