Mountain Lakes Lodge

We loved our 10 day stay at Mountain Lake lodge so we booked again this August .This romantic getaway is Great . The cabin has all you need , it"s quiet and peacefull and finally we found a place were the owners , Rebecca and Paul , accept and love big dogs.
My Labradors had their own fenced in yard and enjoyed long walks in beautifull countryside with lots of swimming and fishing . The evenings on our private deck were ideal with a breathtaking view. Can"t wait to recharge my batteries in this fantastic place.
Thank you , and see you soon , Claudia and Jerry Veu Casovic , Denver , CO

We were a bit disappointed with these accommodations. We stayed at the "Little Log House" cottage. It did in fact have 3 bedrooms as advertised, and it was described as "quaint". I would describe it as "rustic and worn". There were the most minimal amenities provided, although it did have the basic appliances (sans dishwasher). The refrigerator thermostat was turned up to the highest setting, so all the liquids we put in there froze, and in time a can of soda exploded, making quite the mess.
The place was generally dirty/dusty/old and the furniture, dishes, pots, pans, and silverware were all pretty much garage sale mismatched. We needed extra blankets and a floor lamp and the owner was very responsive to those requests. It should be noted that the cottage was close to the highway, so be prepared to hear traffic. The other difficulty we had was the poor sound insulation within the cottage. The doors did close close flush so everyone in our group could easily be heard no matter where you went, making sleep difficult. We did have a small fenced in "front yard" with a picnic table which allowed us some privacy. The cottage met our needs for a family get together, but I am sorry to say we will not be returning here, especially in light of the prices we paid per night.

Cute cabin though very small. They claim to supply cooking stuff - bring your own - not enough there to be funtional! Allows dogs so that was a huge plus - cost is OK should be lower.

Totally misrepresented on the internet by description and photos. Upon arrival and realizing this, we asked to see the room and were told "Sure, but its not going to get your money back "under those circumstances we stayed one night and went to check out the next morning and were told,"since we had made reservations for two nights...they could not refund our money because of a two night minimum, even though another party came and went during the night. We ended up paying for two nights lodging in a place we didnt wish to stay at all.

MLLMGMT, General Manager at Mountain Lakes Lodge, responded to this reviewResponded August 2, 2010

Our website shows an un-embellished video of our cabins. They are clearly viewable and accurately described. When you arrive, your cabin looks exactly like the video.

While I cannot account for the conversation mentioned in the review, we do have a policy of; "Two nights required for an advance reservation" We do accommodate overnight travelers on a walk in basis when availability allows. It is our hope that all who stay at Mountain Lakes Lodge have an enjoyable visit and I regret that this patron did not.

We never intended to stay in the Grand Lake area, but it was late, etc, etc.. A wonderful surprise to find such hospitality so close to Rocky Mountain National Park. This visit was our 4th, and this time we brought our daughter. We hiked, ate, spent time with the managers, had dinner out with the managers, and had just a great time. Pet friendly is a plus even though we didn't bring any of of 4 dogs. And we are due back in November 2009!

Great getaway! The rates are afforadable, cabin was clean, quaint and the bed was comfortable. We visited other travelers around the evening campfire. Paul recommended chicken from Betty's Cafe to take through the Park. We had a great picnic watching elk, moose and fox in lovely park surroundings.

Rustic cabins, well stocked kitchen, close to Beacon Landing Marina. You can walk to the lake. Owners go out of their way to be helpful and friendly. This was our second time staying here and will be back again. We stayed at the North Shore Lodge down by the lake and highly recommend it. Close to Grand Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park.
