My wife and I stayed in the Cabins not in the lodge itself; we were not satisfied with the accomidations or the service. The cabins are the only place the Rapids allows dogs. The cabin we stayed in was so small that there was no room on the counter of the kitchenette for a microwave. The rooms were tiny and the chairs and table rickey. The table was too unstable to actually eat from. The shower was so tiny it was like having a shower in a phone booth. The plastic one piece shower surround was improperly installed and the grab rail unsafe. The bed was rock hard. They also informed us, after checking in, that they do not provide maid service at the cabins.
For the $140 a night (includes $20 per dog fee and tax) you can do much better in this very cute town.

We stayed in Riverview Condo #1 which is a ground floor unit. For three nights I was kept awake by the people in the unit above us. You could hear every foot step. If you get a room on the ground floor - be forewarned. The website advertises WIFI but this unit was apparently just a little too far away and the WIFI could not be accessed - we had to go up to the main building which was inconvenient. Also, the TV only got the most basic of cable TV. For some this probably isn't a big deal but we had planned on watching opening weekend college football on ESPN while we cooked dinner in our condo only to discover there was no ESPN. More of an FYI, if you want to grill out there is a community charcoal grill. Other condos we have stayed in have had their own grill on the patio but just ask and they will let you know where the grill is. Overall, the condo unit itself is okay but I wouldn't stay there again...at least not in this unit - too many disappointments.

Smell of propane gas, lumpy beds, rude staff, and an even more unpleasant owner. We rapidly left. Many better places to stay in Grand Lake.

The condo itself was nice, although being on the ground level we could hear the thumping of the condo above us. The living space was nice and quaint. The trip would have been a 5 star rating if it had not been for “Tom” the owner. From their website, “The New River View Condominiums' one and two-story units provide guests with fully equipped kitchens, cobblestone gas fireplace….” When I told “Tom” that the fireplace did not work, the response was [sigh] “it’s summer turn on the heat.....”. Their website never implied a “seasonal fireplace”. When I asked for two new pillow cases and two extra towels, the owner put his hands on his hips and looked at me exasperated. Although “Tom” has NO LEVEL of customer service, he does employ those who do. I recommend if you stay here, stay clear of “TOM”. Or maybe he just hates women, b/c he treated my husband like cherry pie.

This was my second time to stay at the Rapids with a good friend, but we have visited Grand Lake and eaten at the Rapids Restaurant numerous times. Both times we have stayed at the Never Summer Cabin and love it. It is far enough from the main street that it is very quiet, yet a quick walk to the lake and all the fun and shopping that the town has to offer. The room was clean, kitchen well stocked, everything worked and we love to sit outside and enjoy the restful peace that the mountains, lake, aspen, and fun little scurrying animals bring. Tom and Lynne are wonderful hosts and always are willing to visit as if they have no other things on their agenda. Will continue to return to the Rapids!

We stayed in one of the Rapids Suites for one night on a bike trip. The rooms were extremely clean and the management was very accommodating to let us stay one night on a weekend. Super quiet location, much more pleasant than the Grand Lake main drag, would definitely stay there again!

Was disappointed with the managerial service, not the place itself. fine location in Grand Lake. size of room really good. bed hard, but i like hard bed -just a warning to others! Room was basically clean but there were crumbs on the dinette table which really should have been wiped up before i had checked in. Parking was a problem because the facilty allowed restaurant parking in front of the rooms , leaving overnight guest with the issue of parking far from their rooms. but the real problem is the manager and how it seems it is acceptable to run a motel/hotel.
problem: when i reported that the remote for my tv didn't work, desk staff was quick to get the owner/manager. He immediately came to my room to see what the problem was, i explained that the tv remote didn't work and that they were different brands from one another (his under breath remark was to blame the cleaning staff) Anyway he pushed the same buttons i did and came to the same conclusion i did, that the remote wouldn't work the tv.
He then said he didn't know what to do about it. (huh?? this is the guy in charge!) First, any good business would be prepared for equipment issues and either should have had a universal remote spare, or even a tv (this relates to my review of acadia pines in maine) He said he couldn't do anyhing about it "tonight" (thursday evening about 7 pm) I did let him know politely that that couldn't really help me as i was checking out in the morning but thanx for coming by.... (i wasn't going to make a stink over a tv!) but i thought it was reasonable to post this review as poor customer service should be reported on. universal remotes cost about 10 or 15 dollars, it's not rocket science to expect equipment failures and if you run a service oriented business, it's a 24/7 job, not a next morning kind of thing. The fact that he thought it was okay to not do anything is more disturbing than having equipment that didn't work and only average cleanliness of the room.
