Took my family here while on vacation and was pleasantly surprised to find Sloopy's. It's like a small town Snack Shack in TX. Short order; good food. We were thrilled to find this place.

We're in Grand Lake on a regular basis are still searching for that great burger. We thought it would be at Sloopy's yesterday and ordered a 1/2 pound cheeseburger. We asked to have it cooked medium rare and were told "sure" but little did we know it couldn't possibly be cooked that way. Why not, you ask? Their so called "half pounder" is actually 2 very thin 1/4 pound patties that can only be cooked well done as they were yesterday.

They had great toppings, which helped make the burger edible but the meat itself had no taste and was disappointing to say the least, ;plus the burger didn't come with anything on the side, We ordered sweet potato fries that were quite good, although they were over $3.00, making one burger with fries more than $11.00.

Sloopys was right down the road from our cabin so we chose it on our first night in town. The seating inside is limited, it looks much bigger from the outside, we were 3 familys traveling together so the 12 of us filled up the inside seating. The food was good but the prices very a bit high compared to what I am used too. We ordered 3 burges, fries & drinks and it was almost $40.00, and these were just regular small cheeseburgers, nothing fancy. the workers were nice but at this price we could only afford one trip to eat here.

Sloopy's is just barely out of town on the main highway. This is NOT a gourmet restaurant, but neither is it a ripoff tourist place like so many others in the Grand Lake area. Prices are fair relative to other places in town, & portions are decent. Typical American grill food (burgers, fries, dogs, sandwiches, shakes, floats & so on) done well. Our sweet potato fries were a bit overcooked, but our burgers were good. (If you order a half-pounder you get two patties stacked together; a delicious mess.) Vanilla shake was fine but not awesome (does anyone do a real-ice-cream, lots-of-real-vanilla-taste shake anymore?!). Owners & workers are very friendly. Indoor dining is small / limited. There are a few picnic tables outside, great on a nice day. Locals frequent the place, which is often a good sign.

Limited selection for a grill and fryer place... Inconsistent meals (over- cooked or under-cooked)... Skip it and hit any number of places IN TOWN...
