“Don't Expect Great Food.”
Reviewed July 14, 2013 via mobile

The restaurant is in a great building with a great view. We had lunch on the enclosed porch overlooking the lake. The food was very average with really bad soup. Service was friendly but not great. The location is outstanding. Not really expensive so if you're there don't miss it.

“Pretty view and great food”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

We just enjoyed a terrific lunch at the Grand Lake Lodge. A beautiful view of Grand Lake with lots of sailboats and antique wooden boats! The lobby of the lodge features an enormous fire place in the round, elk antler light fixtures, a nice gift shop, and an art gallery - with the artist, Tom Hale, present1 Food was very good and the service was prompt. Three of us had lunch including 2 beers & an ice tea for $41.00. Can't wait to return!

“Stunning views, just mediocre food on the veranda”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

Several of us from TBCNC did a road trip and ended up in Grand Lakes one Friday afternoon. Since a rainstorm was moving in, we decided to take refuge on the veranda at Grand Lake Lodge for a very late lunch.

This is one of those places that you don't come for the food, but since this is a restaurant review, it must be evaluated as a restaurant, so it is what it is. What it is is a stunningly rustic lodge that overlooks Grand Lake in the heart of the Rockies. We ate outside on the veranda and the views were just what you would expect at the top of the world.

The food was only average and the service was pretty slow, but since we were in no hurry, that was not really a factor. We had the signature appetizer, some drinks and a light lunch. The selection is pretty limited, the food is only pedestrian, but the view of the lake just keeps on giving and giving.

If you visit this restaurant with the proper frame of mind, you will have a delightful time, the views are wonderful.

Hint: Take a little time to relax on one of the swings outside on the porch before you go into the restaurant. Try to get a seat outside on the veranda if you can.

“The quality of food & service did not match the magnificence of the view .”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

In the past We have loved having a special dinner at this rustic place. Last week we were sorely disappointed to find mediocre food & presentation as well as poor service from what seemed like a poorly trained wait staff.

“Not what it used to be”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

My husband and I ate both dinner and brunch here at a recent visit to Grand Lake.

Dinner was fine -- my trout was done nicely, with an abundance of lemony sauce and nice baby vegetables. The waitress was ill-kempt, though, and looked like she'd been working too many hours or didn't know how to use an iron, maybe.

Brunch was disappointing. It is a shadow of its former self -- a few chafing dishes with dry eggs and meats, some store-bought mediocre pastries, a nice tray of fruit. Even the tea water was lukewarm with no offer of milk for my black tea. Our waitress kept rushing away from the table without explanation. I remember when it was hard to get a table on a Sunday morning, and the buffet table was laden with an abundance of options. Now it is hardly busy at all.

The location is gorgeous, and the view with the cleared trees is better than ever. But it's just not being managed up to its potential. It's a shame.
