“Friendly service”

Arrived late in day and hotel was perfect. Friendly staff at front desk. Clean and decent room. Beautiful view outside on pool, golf course, and mountains in the background. Thought I'd read in some book that they had continental breakfast and they didn't, but that was ok. I just went to Burger King right next door. Of course downtown was only a few miles away and it had several neat little breakfast places that I could have gone to instead. Grand Junction has permanent annual sculpture display on Main Street between 2nd and 7th. It changes annually and has over 100 displays.

We stopped off in Grand Junction for a quick overnight stay earlier this week on our road trip from Seattle to San Antonio! Very convenient location off I-70. The front desk was incredibly helpful in giving us directions to the hotel and welcoming upon our arrival. We'd been on the road for most of the day and sometimes it's just the little things that make an impression, but the warm oatmeal cookies they gave us while checking in were a great touch. The rooms were a nice size, free wifi, comfy beds, and Neutrogena products in the bathroom. We had dinner in the bistro, where the food and service were pretty average, but it was nice to have the option right inside the hotel. Would definately stay her on another trip through Grand Junction!

I shopped around nearly every hotel in town, this one offered it all, swimming pool and hot tub, nice work out area, restaurant and bar, even tennis courts. The staff was excellent, everything clean and updated. Thank you, Doubletree for a pleasant stay.

  • Liked — Great food, nice pool, modern excersise equipment. Clean room, excellent staff.
  • Disliked — Highway noise. Rooms on the west side would be preferable. If using A/C this wouldn't be a problem, regardless.

We stayed at this hotel the last night of a longer vacation due to an
early morning flight the next day. Check-in and checkout were easy, and the cookies they provided were tasty. The room, nonsmoking 1 king, was spacious, clean, quiet, and well appointed. We chose to eat
at the hotel's restaurant, which was fairly good food, friendly if not 5-star service, and a reasonable value.

The only down side was a large group of high school students who arrived in a bus around 10 pm as we were finishing dinner. Once we got$ back to our room we were not disturbed by the group. I would stay here again especially if I needed convenient access to the airport.

  • Liked — Nice room, close to airport

The Doubletree Hotel, Grand Junction, Colorado, had nothing but filthy, stained, soiled and outdated bedding and furniture.

Just the facts. My husband and I had stayed at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, California and loved everything about it. So when we decided to vacation in Colorado, we decided it would be Doubletree Hotel all the way. We arrived by car at Grand Junction, Colorado about 11:30 pm, exhausted from driving all day from Las Vegas, Nevada, but looking forward to our stay at the Doubletree Hotel, Grand Junction. Reservations made, we arrived at the hotel. Our room was a great disappointment! The window curtain was hanging off the rod and badly soiled. Old, outdated bedspread on the bed and unsanitary looking. Restroom closet size. Contacted desk and requested another room.

A new door key was delivered by staff and directions to another room given to us upon request. When we arrived at the new room, we couldn't believe it. Somebody's out to get me or something?! The chair, faded, was dirty from years of use, the window curtains dirty too. The furniture and bedspread were a throw-back to the 60's, but unsanitary looking. We actually slept in our clothes and on top of the bedspread out of fear of bugs and filth on the bedding. Needless to say, we did not bathe or shower the next morning but washed off at the sink--in the closet size bathroom, with the small black and white tv attached to the sink area.

I honestly felt sorry for the hotel staff for having to assign guests to rooms in such terrible condition. I wondered how the hotel owners would allow the hotel in Grand Junction to go to pot like that while the hotel in Ontario, California, was just excellent in every way. After all, the Doubletree Hotel, Ontario, California, had the Sweet Dreams bedding, while Grand Junction, Colorado, had nothing but filthy, stained, soiled and outdated bedding and furniture. We were so very uncomfortable there that when my husband misplaced our room key the next morning as we prepared to check out, we seriously suspicioned that a member of the staff might have come in as we slept and took the key. Fortunately, that was not the case. We had never stayed at such an awful place. I wish I had taken pictures to show. But as I said, we were tired.

About a week after we returned home from vacation, I was surfing the Internet one day and decided to check out the various Doubletree Hotel locations. I couldn't believe my eyes when I pulled up the Doubletree Hotel, Grand Junction, Colorado, online! I saw a room just as beautiful as the one at the Doubletree in California--with the Sweet Dreams bedding collection--and everything else! Nothing at all like the rooms given to me and my husband.

  • Liked — Location right off freeway
  • Disliked — Everything except location -- poor quality room, filthy, outdated

We stayed at the Doubletree on two separate nights that were a week apart. Since we were just staying in Grand Junction for an extra night on our way to and from the Arches National Park area, its location was very convenient. It is right by the entrance to the main highway, 3 minutes from Walker airport, and a very short drive to restaurants and a grocery store. I had read about the ongoing renovation at the hotel so I wasn't surprised. The front doors to the lobby were closed off and a sign directed everyone to enter the side door to check in. That is a little difficult when you have lots of luggage because the side door has to be manually held open vs. the automatic door that is in the front of the hotel.

We had an unrenovated room for our first stay (4th floor) and a renovated one (6th floor) for the 2nd stay -- what a difference. That may be why the reviews for this hotel are so mixed. The first room smelled of paint and was stuffy. Although the room was "clean" the furnishings were older and the bed was uncomfortable. I really wasn't looking forward to also spending the last night of our trip at the Doubletree. However, we were pleasantly surprised with our renovated room on the last night! The new bedding was incredibly comfortable, the room was completely redecorated and refurnished, including the bathroom. We were tired after a week of hiking and then driving to Grand Junction, and when we saw that bed we just settled in for a long nap before venturing out to dinner.

We received 2 free buffet breakfast tickets (I believe because we were Hilton Honors Gold), but the quality of the buffet left a lot to be desired. It was enough to put something in our stomachs but that was about it. We didn't order off the menu so I can't comment on that. Of course the chocolate chip cookies are outstanding. They keep them warm in an oven at the check in desk so they are scrumptous.

I think when this hotel is renovated it will be very nice. Until then it is still nice for a short visit as long as you are able to get a renovated room.

  • Liked — The "Great Dreams" bed in the renovated room
  • Disliked — The night in the unrenovated room

Reserved a 2 Queen Beds-Nonsmoking Comp Hi Speed-Sweet Dreams Experience Bed at a rate of 125.25 thur a Web Service.
When arrived an checked-in and got up to room it was a standard 2 Double Beds - almost exact room that we had stayed in 2 nights earlier in another Hotel Chain in Las Cruces, Nm which we paid at a rate of 61.50. When called the Web Service they called back to the hotel an got us an offer of a free Breakfast Buffet for 2 but no price break. They (Doubletree Grand Junction) allready knew that their was 3 of us staying at the hotel but they only give 2 complimentary Buffet Breakfast tickets. Yes i am disappointed with this service i have received and feel that the Web Service Falsely Advertized a room that was not available - The hotel should give us our money back an not even Charge us for the room.
