“Good food and monster portions. You will not leave hungry!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2012

We ate here for breakfast with friends on their recommendation during a recent trip to Grand Junction. OMG! The portions are monstrous. We all had to get to go boxes when we were done. The food and service was extremely good, too. Their green chili is pretty tasty and not made to placate a Yankee palate, so if you like some spice I would recommend one of their dishes with green chili. It wasn't flaming, but it had a good balance of heat and flavor, IMO. Next time we find ourselves in Grand Junction we will definitely be eating here again.

“Drive on by....”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2012

Went for breakfast w/ local friends. Very disappointing. I ordered the sausage gravy & biscuits after being assured it was the best in the valley - completely flavorless white paste on top of a huge soggy mass of something. And never a question of why i didn't eat more...! Lots of coffee, but nothing special there.

“Rockin' green chili, breakfasts, and sausage gravy!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 20, 2011

This place should be on Triple D (diners, drive ins and dives), it's that wonderful!!!
From bisquits and gravy to steak and eggs, this place always satifies!!!
Oh, and have I mentioned the cinnamon rolls? They are made fresh daily AND are HUGE and super yummy!!! Also made fresh daily, bisquits!
Their huevos rancheros rank right up there with Cookies Outlaw Cafe's (Pufferbelly's is milder and has more pork).
Seriously, you can't go wrong here. Just be prepared to wait Sunday morning if you hit the place in the 10a to 11a, post church, time. :) Great service, food, and value, in a comfortably "divey" joint.
Pufferbelly is open 6am to 2pm, 7 days a week. Breakfast specials (early) are til 8am, and they are a great value.
Oh, and did I mention the trains? No? Well, if you're there around noonish you might see a real live train! Kids of all ages LOVE the trains. :)

“Supersized Breakfast!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2010

During our weekend of wine tasting, we woke up the first morning looking for a late morning breakfast. After browsing the web we came upon the review for Pufferbelly and decided to try to find it! The outside of the restaurant sets the scene for the inside decor of the restaurant, all trains! We did wait about 10 minutes to be seated, and had a preview of the LARGE plates coming from the kitchen! The menu claims the restaurant has the best biscuits around and the largest cinnamon rolls. I ordered the Green Supreme while my husband ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs. I was blown away that the bread options included the cinnamon roll, and being a huge cinnamon roll fan, decided to try it! The roll had just the right amount of icing and was gooey in the center, although the outside and bottom were a bit crisp. Very good overall. The Green supreme is an interesting mix of hash browns, eggs, green chile (with lots of pork!), sausage gravy, and cheese... very very good and Huge portions! My husband's chicken fried steak was also very good and Very Large! He had a biscuit, which was very heavy, not very flaky, but the jam was wonderful, in fact we bought two bottles of jam when we left. My husband is a big coffee drinker and one downfall we felt was that the coffee was pretty bad and could be improved. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. We would recommend splitting a meal if you do not need to eat for two, the plates really are huge! We felt the restaurant was clean enough and the service was very good. I am giving Pufferbelly a rating of 4 because they do need to improve the coffee... but overall I thought they served a mean breakfast.
