“Its a pretty standard Springhill, decent location.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2014

It seemed to have been updated recently and matches the standard Springhill - designed for style and function more than anything else. The rooms are a bit quirky with the glass sliding window room divider - but everything was clean and worked well. Breakfast was a bit lackluster and being charged for parking seemed ridiculous given the town it is located in. It is an easy walk to restaurants, although they seemed to be hit or miss on quality. If I am back in town, I would stay here again.

This is a very nice hotel at the end of Main Street. I traveled for work in early December so the hotel was decorated for the holiday season! Very nice! The room was great, very modern... nice area with seating, fridge, microwave, separate room for toilet, awesome bathroom. I had previously stayed at the Residence Inn close to the airport. This hotel was much more conveniently located. Starbucks in the grocery store across the street was a plus! One thing I can't believe is that they charge for parking!! During the holiday season all meters downtown have free parking... yet the hotel was still charging! I was also approached by a homeless man in the parking lot.. so just be aware of your surroundings. I'm sure he was harmless, but a bit startling at 7:30 in the morning. The only real issue I encountered was that the parking lot had not been well treated for snow/ice. I had to walk on a sheet of ice from my car to the entrance.... very dangerous!!

I just stayed here for a week to attend to family business in the area. The hotel is consistent with the brand in a couple of ways: immaculate, and great spread of hot and cold items for breakfast.
HOWEVER, a serious design and construction issue has left this hotel with HIGH noise level between rooms (no soundproofing installed), very loud door-closing hardware, and ice machines in the hall rather than behind a door or barrier. The operator/franchise holder should never have accepted this shoddy construction.
The front desk staff were always courteous and helpful, but they must have to deal with a large number of noise complaints due to the construction issues! This is not fair to them, as it means they must deal with normal noise as if it is above and beyond. (I was awakened two nights by the loud snoring of someone in the next room, something that has never happened to me before in a Marriott property.)
The ice machine issue showed up early in the mornings when people were trying to fill picnic coolers with several refills of the hard plastic containers provided for ice.
In summary, in the three years this hotel has been open, it seems that the management company has failed to address the multiple noise issues, even, for example, replacing the hard plastic ice containers with something softer. The door hardware should be replaced with something that makes far less noise and still meets fire codes (I stay in hotels 60 nights each year, and know for a fact that quieter hardware is available.) I know that retrofitting the walls with the soundproofing material that should have been installed in the first place is not a simple matter, but I know that I will never stay here again even though I own property and have family in Grand Junction.

Room Tip: AWAY from the ice machines!

Dear Caroline,
Thank you for your review on our hotel. I'm sorry you found the noise level in our hotel so disrupting. I will take personal responsibility for having not put you in a quieter area, especially with you staying for a longer period of time. We value your business, especially as a Marriott Rewards Member and we hope you will consider us again on your next visit.

Sincerely,

Martha Thurston

Nice room. Starting to look a bit worn. Comfortable beds. Parking is not ok. Would stay again. Breakfast food not so great though. Kinda just food. Eggs were kinda gummy. Just a bit more care and it would be a four star.

Stark exterior, modern, inexpensive and mobile desk, bar and seating in a large open area: the Costco of hotels. It looks as if the interior and the rooms were designed by n MBA and modern artist. The rooms have separate shower and toilet rooms, seems nice at first but we found ourselves going back and forth between the 2. Watch the hardwood trim on the new rooms - I bumped my hand and actually cut myself. The rooms were newer, the bed was WONDERFUL. but the lighting very sterile fluorescent and LEDs. There's that MBA influence again. Good luck finding the front door. Be sure to drive into what looks like a garage and you'll be there.

Room Tip: Away from the elevators.

Dear erinaldi,

Thank you for your review of our SpringHill Suites. Springhill's design is a new concept for Marriott and doesn't always appeal to everyone. We always look for ways we might improve on the design and our business and very much appreciate your feedback on our hotel. Please know that if you ever experience any first-aid issues we do provide bandaids and other firstaid supplies at the front desk.

Sincerely,
Martha

There are a few young men next door playing a video game and it sounds like they are in my room! There needs to be more insulation around the door that connects the rooms.
I don't think they were in the room last night because it was very quiet in our room.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with no one in the room connected by a door. Otherwise this hotel is good.

Was a little concerned about being in the old downtown of Grand Junction but shouldn't have been. Had an excellent three-day visit, walking to interesting shops and delightful restaurants near this hotel. The suites are very nice, modern decor, comfortable, with excellent plumbing (once you figure out how the shower works), many useful extras (full ironing board, for example). No room safe, unfortunately. Lobby is very pretty with big windows and works as a breakfast room in the morning (so-so food) but the Happy Hour was very noisy with loud electric piano. We had to leave to hear ourselves talk. Bartender OK, rest of staff very friendly and helpful. A little street noise early in the evening but very quiet late.

Room Tip: A lovely view to the mountains on side that faces Main Street.
