We were pleasantly surprised by the unusual, unique and well kept animals here. Also our guide was fun, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and engaging with her information.

Toddlers and prechsoolers do not have the attention span to listen to the very informative guides. Si, it is either a aquatic zoo for the very young or a science filed day.

Thank you justgina23 for this review. The Children's Nature Center is a 501 C nonprofit and operated by volunteers. Our volunteers and trained docents log in an average of 120 hours per week guiding guests through the amazing world of animals. We all try to rise to the challenge of short attention spans. Often if the children are not wanting to know the facts then we work on the basics of touching the animals. Know that your admission is good all day and should you decided to have lunch you are always welcomed back in the afternoon.

Love this place. My son and I frequently go here and like the new location much better than the previous one in Fruita. The location at the Mesa Mall is more open and gives you more space to enjoy it and not be so crowded. The staff is very knowledgeable. One day I hope they can turn this into a larger zoo with more animals. Keep growing. Love the new aquarium tank as well.

Interesting exhibits and animals. Good place for family. A little expensive. Would recommend making the entry fee a little less. In a mall which is different.

Devon F thank you for this review. The Children's Nature Center is a 501 C 3 nonprofit devoted to education, conservation, and research. Our facility is volunteer ran and operated. It takes a lot to feed and care for over 150 animal ambassadors. Admission and gift shop account for only half our annual operational budget the remainder comes from private donors and grants. We hope you stop by again to see nature at this most Exotic!

In Mesa Mall, I didn't know what to expect. We were greeted by a very knowledgeable docent who took all four kids around the exhibits. Kids varied in age from 4 to 10. She explained a lot, let the kids touch and hold the animals when appropriate. She told stories about their animals, many of which had been abandoned. Stories stick with kids and their understanding was greatly enhanced by the stories. An excellent hot afternoon activity.
