“Good for an older motel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2012

It was clean, well kept on the outside .I did have my own bedroom (snorer) which was great. TV in the main room was positioned opposite the bed on the side wall in the corner which made watching TV awkward. You had to lay at the foot of the bed at an angle. No AC ,it wasn't needed at night ,it was 37 the next morning, and quite brisk in the room that morning because the fan was still in the window and air came through. Breakfast was good ,several kinds of bagels, bananas, juice and coffee. Plates and trays to carry it back to your room and a table in the to eat on. That was nice. The room also had a desk for using your laptop. Walls were thin, and you could hear people talking but a small table fan masked the noise at night. Good location, within walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Very good for an older motel.

Motel chosen because of good reviews on Tripadvisor and at the end of a very long day of driving all we wanted was a comfortable bed. No complaints about the room at all and would stay here again. Breakfast was a bit sparse.

So glad you had a comfortable stay after a long day of traveling. We try and make our guest happy while they are in town and offer only a very light breakfast. We advertise as "Bed & Bagel" so our guests don't think they will have a continental breakfast. Bagels, juice, sweet rolls, bananas, and coffee to get you down the road.
Again, thank you for staying with us. Hope to see you again if you are in Granby.

I chose this MOTEL because of the good reviews on on tripadvisor.com. I can't recall the last time that I've stayed at a motel (you park outside of the door that enters your room directly from the outside). I was so pleased to see the room was spotless. My clean-freak mother would stay here. As she would say, it's not about the age of the place so long as everything is in working order and spotless. it wasn't exactly a deal though at $90 a night. The breakfast was so-so in selection but better than nothing.

So glad you enjoyed your stay! July is such a beautiful time of year in Granby.
We work hard at having a clean motel so thank you so much for letting people know.
We try and advertise our breakfast as Bed and Bagels, that way our customers know what to expect. We are a small motel and try and offer everything we can to make our customers happy. A light breakfast to get you started and down the road.
Thank you again for taking the time to write a nice review.

We stayed one evening at the Trail Rider's Motel. We really enjoyed the retro-style of the motel and were happy to have the bagels, V-8 juice and banana breakfast before we headed out for our return trip home. I agree with the review that the walls don't afford a lot of privacy. We heard a very intimate exchange in the room adjacent to ours, and I am sure they heard us snoring too. However, the bed was comfortable and we slept well. I would also caution that, although the rooms are well equipped, there aren't hair dryers. I guess it has been way too long since I stayed at an older establishment, and foolishly expected that there would be hair dryers. We were going to a wedding and I was glad I was able to get by with only a touch up with my curling iron. Otherwise I would have looked like a drowned rat.

So glad you had a comfortable stay. Thank you so much for letting other people know. We really appreciate the time you took to write a nice review.
My husband and I have owned The Trail Riders for 20 years. We have tried to upgraded everything we can. We do have hair dryers available, but you must ask for it in the office. It is classic knotty pine motel, and yes you are right, it is not sound proof, so we ask all of our guests to please snore softly!
We hope to see you again if you are in the Granby area.

We stopped here for one night. It was wonderful. Very clean and comfortable. Not a bad price. Loved the little details. Also loved sitting on the boardwalk front porch outside of our room looking at the mountains. Breakfast to go was a pleasant surprise. Different bagels (their sign says "Bed and Bagels", HA!). Very good coffee! They also offered flavored creamers, orange juice, V-8 juice ( we really appreciated that), & bananas. When we come through this way again, we will definitley stop here.

Room Tip: We really enjoyed Room 8.

We are so glad to hear you had a nice stay at The Trail Riders Motel.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a nice review.
We are a mom and pop motel, but try to offer everything we can to make our guests comfortable. The Bed & Bagel is new this year and seems as though many of our customers really enjoy it. A good cup of coffee, something light to eat, and you're ready for your next adventure.
Thank you for staying with us, and we hope to see again you when you are in the Granby area.

I chose the Trail Riders Motel because it had quite good reviews on tripadvisor, and because, even though it was a quiet mom-and-pop place, it had HDTV and free wifi. I had reserved one room for two nights, and arrived about 8:00 in the evening. I checked in and discovered apparently I had the only room without a fridge and microwave, but since that wasn't a big deal to me, I didn't worry about it. However, after returning from a late dinner, I discovered the wifi wasn't working. Went to the office to see what they could do, but clearly they had gone to bed and were not answering the office phone. No wifi that night. In the morning I went to the office again, and this time they fixed it pretty quickly, and offered to move me to a room with a fridge, which I declined. So, the good news is, if you're looking for a quaint roadside motel near Rocky Mountain National Park that does have access to free wifi and HDTV, they can help you out. But if you're looking for a place that will be willing to solve your problems 24/7, this is not the place.

Room Tip: Apparently Room 7 is the only one without a fridge and microwave, you might want to check before you...

Thank you for staying with us at the Trail Riders Motel. I am so sorry to hear that your stay with us was not what you expected. Since we are a mom and pop motel it is just the two of us and we do not have a person at the desk all night. We close the office at 9:00 P.M. if we are full or 10:00 P.M. if we still have rooms to rent.
We try to make our please our customers and would have been more than happy to move you to another room.
We have many return customers because of our wifi, our bagel breakfast, and our cleanliness. We hope you will stay with us again if you are ever in the Granby area.

We stayed two nights in the Trail Riders Motel over Memorial Day weekend 2012 while exploring the Rocky Mountain National Park and surrounding area. The motel is an old-fashioned motel by the road (all motels were by the side of the road in those days!). It was clean, breakfast was simple, and the double queen configuration was actually two queen beds in two separate but adjoining rooms. I had two complaints, though. One, the bathroom was tiny and two, the walls were very thin. We heard other guests on both nights but fortunately we were so exhausted after hiking for miles that they didn't keep us up.

If we need to stay overnight in Granby we would stay here again. If we want to overnight near the western entrance to the park, though, I'd opt for staying in the nearby city of Grand Lake. However, on our morning drive to RMNP from Granby we saw a black bear one morning and a red fox the next....we would have missed this treat had we stayed in Grand Lake.

Breakfast consisted of a bagel, coffee, bottled orange juice and tomato juice, bananas, and a few store bought muffins.

The staff is friendly and this motel is a place out of time...it could be the movie set for a film along Route 66.
